I loved it. The teachers were amazing and the lessons engaging. The school was very welcoming and helped me feel better the French lifestyle.
Negative aspects
Maybe the classroom was a bit hot, but it didn’t bother me that much.
Accommodation
It was amazing, the meals were super good and she was always ready to answer questions and have conversations in French. It truly helped to make my stay great!

No activities offered. I had previously attended a language course in Malaga and they organised a visit of the old town, a tapas evening, a welcome evening and a guided visit to the Picasso museum. Here we just got a students card. Unfortunately the other pupils were not interested in doing joint activities so I had to organise my own programme

Positive aspects of school
Very nice teachers, good course material
Negative aspects
Unfortunately, I received the contact details of the host family very late (Friday morning, the course started on Sunday). I had only booked two weeks before the course started, but as my host told me that she had already asked the school for my contact details on Monday, I know that it would have been possible to make contact earlier.
City/place
Very beautiful town. The sea view is beautiful and it's a 5-minute walk from the school. Nice has a wonderful size. In a fortnight, we were able to explore the city well and even some places in the surrounding area. The school hands out a student card that allows free entry to almost all museums - great! There is good public transport, but I hardly used it within Nice. From the main train station, Monaco, Menton and Eze can be reached in 20-40 minutes. To the south, you can also get to Cannes by train or by bus to St. Paul de Vence - highly recommended!
Quality of teaching / language progress
Perhaps the language school could also come up with a concept for the individual lessons in advance. I was asked in the first lesson what I wanted to learn. That took me a bit by surprise, as I wasn't expecting to be allowed to help shape the course. I would have liked a bit more of a concept here. For example, a comprehensive vocabulary list on a certain topic that the participant would like to learn, along with new words that can be incorporated into the language.
The grammar script is great. I would have been very happy with vocabulary lists in any case!
Accommodation
It took me 22 minutes to walk. There are rental bikes and also a bus service. However, the bus does not cover the whole distance and is only 5 minutes faster than walking.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
To see the sights of Nice and the surrounding area.
Other comments
As already mentioned, school buildings and premises can put you off. Better signage as to which floor the school is located on.
City/place
Some must-see museums in Nice and the surrounding area. Interesting excursions to other coastal towns or to the mountains are possible by bus or train. In the city the castle hill with the ruins, beautiful view, the old town of Nice, various churches, squares, the view from the roof terraces of the 4 or 5 star hotels. Good geographical location (near Monaco, Italy, Marseille, French Maritime Alps).
Quality of teaching / language progress
Teacher Michele was good. The structural condition of the school shocked me as soon as I entered, as did the building in which the school is housed. There is little space, 1 toilet, 1 room with a sink. Our classroom was very small. In the 1st week we were taught in a different street * Private Catholic elementary school. The structural condition of the building was old, run down, in need of renovation. The classroom, however, was huge. There was an inner courtyard with a huge plane tree to enter directly from the classroom.
Accommodation
I cooked myself and my meals have always tasted very good to me, and it was also cheaper.

We, the majority of the course, wished to speak more - to practice that. This was implemented very well and the rigid grammar plan was postponed. The reception, the greeting and introducing each other in the local language was very good, nicely designed and warm-hearted. At the same time, almost like a lesson. The teacher, Mme Blandin, taught well.

Although French entered at the beginner level, I was able to study while being supported by the teachers. At first I think you may be confused, but if you have a positive attitude to participate in the lesson, you will be able to speak French as much, so Actilangue recommends it.

I had two teachers in my six weeks. The second, Michelle, is a good teacher and I would repeat a course with her.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Organise the accommodation on your own. The accommodations they organised for me and most of my classmates were dirty and dilapidated, with hosts who only care about money. My room: a sleeping mat instead of a mattress and without even a fan being at 35 degrees with humidity. House full of spiders, broken kitchenware, floor with loose tiles, no drain in the entire house worked, ... disgusting.
Other comments
The way they assign the level seems a bit random to me. If you stay more than two weeks, it is likely that you will have to repeat content. I complained about this to my first teacher Aline and her answer was to shrug. Luckily, they changed me to another group.

Julian, the teacher we had in our first week, interesting texts to read and to talk about, very interactive and maybe the best language teacher ever.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
There isn't free activities to get to know all the students who are in the school, so it's not easy to meet people from other classrooms (there is just a free walking tour the first day to the new 20 people +/- who arrive). And the pay activities are the same every week. I suggest to have bbq nights, meeting nights with discounts for the students, volleyball competition... It's not the best language school I've ever gone, even though I had a great time there.
Other comments
The second teacher we had was awful and we complained to her and to the administration, as her last students did, but the only response we had was to wait a week, the same as what was told to the others. A waste of time and money.

They should install more ventilators in the rooms. It was very, very hot and there was only 1 ventilator which didn't work very well.

Positive aspects of school
It differs from a standard school. There are students from all over the world with whom it is interesting and useful to communicate to improve your level. They don't force you to do anything. You do not want, do not do it, but you will only make it worse for yourself.

The other students were luckily very nice but there were no social activities planned.
Other comments
Do not book accomodation through the school. The housing is really bad and the school does not help you find other accomodation and only after a lot of discussions was I able to get a refund.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
If your accommodation is not up to scratch, don’t put up with it. Mine wasn’t but Giulia in the office fixed up an alternative within 2 days .
Other comments
The home stay option is the way to go. I learned to speak much more confidently as a result. This for me was better knowledge than from the language school, and at a bargain price.
