The teacher was very nice and the placement test was helpful.

There was little emphasis on speaking the language, instead the book (which I didn't like) was "rushed through... That was a pity!

At the time of my participation, my group and the parallel groups were small (less than 5 participants). The exchange during the breaks and after the lessons even took place across groups, including with the teachers. I had never experienced this before and I thought it was excellent.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
* Course with only 3 or 4 participants, * Great teacher who responds to questions etc. in a qualified way, * Regular, inter-course meetings in the early break. * pleasant atmosphere in the whole school
Negative aspects
* Expansion of the range of leisure activities would be nice * A notice board or other way for course participants to coordinate afternoon or evening activities would be great.
Other comments
Great togetherness in the school! Super nice atmosphere!
City/place
Nice, manageable regional capital; a pleasant place to live. Relaxation begins on the ferry to the beach... City centre very nice, pleasant to go out in the evening. Culturally interesting, partly with beautiful architecture; however, some side streets still have potential for urban development. The public transport system could also be improved.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Super package, small group in the morning + individual practice in the afternoon.

Everything really.
Negative aspects
In the second week the spread of ability was very wide and there seemed to be a lot of English spoken. Hard to manage this type of imbalance I know. I think I would have private lessons next time but would certainly use CIAL again. Denise was fab.
City/place
As good as Malaga, my usual go-to city/beach destination.
Quality of teaching / language progress
No, three hours was the right length.

Cial uses one approach in their teaching, so you can switch schools without falling behind in the course. The teacher was good and very knowledgeable and kept our individual learning needs in mind. The school does her utmost best to help you out.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
I am not a big fan of Faro, but that might be because of my experience in Porto. It is great little city, make sure you visit the neighboring towns as well. Trains and busses are a good way of transportation, just keep in mind that they don't leave every single hour of the day. Great food and drink options available.
Other comments
They go pretty slow through the course materials. Just 3 chapters a week, everything will explained up to six times and I had to read the same course materials 2 or 3 times in class. The are pretty much on the clock. Not a minute overtime during the classes. A big difference with Fast Forward in Porto. If you have the basic knowledge and are keen to learn grammar, then Cial's teaching is pretty slow.

There was a flat area on the top of the building...But nothing to sit on. I finished the A 2 book in 3 weeks. I should have been allowed to continue to the next level instead of reviewing the last week. India in reception was the best. And Lourdes, my teacher, was excellent!
