I had more trouble understanding one of the teachers than the other two. This may have been due to her cold or her accent. I particularly liked the other two teachers.

Good and very good teachers.

Because of lack of students of my level I was put in a group with many people who had a much lower level. Even though the teachers are good, it didn't stimulate me as much as the last time, where I was with students of my own level. 8:30 is rather early to start and there were no excursions probably because there is not much enthusiasm at this school for activities outside of the class room.

Lessons should be a bit more individualised, possibly with the help of digital media. Something as simple as "repeating what the teacher said" to learn the pronunciation hardly ever happened. The content was good. But also: In the case of audios, new vocabulary was not introduced in advance, so that the content was sometimes not understood. Overall, there is still room for improvement.

The class did not spend much time on grammar and verb conjugation but focused on practicing conversational French for different situations. It is challenging if you don't know the grammar and conjugations.

It is better to study in Japan to some certain level before coming. I recommend that you bring your own grammar books from Japan. In the beginner's class, neither conjugation nor grammar is taught.

The location is very nice.

Now, with the depreciation of the yen, everything is incredibly more expensive,　Compared to 15 years ago, there are more immigrants and the city lost its laid-back, fashionable atmosphere, leaving only the impression of a very busy tourist town. I feel sorry for the tourists who don't know what it used to be.

The location is amazing. The staff is super friendly. Most teachers were quite good or really good.

Negative aspects

Not all teachers were good. (I had 4, one was bad.) The organisation of tests and exams is a bit chaotic. People are making tests in the same room were discussions are being held. The online system is not really intuitive. There was one excursion in the afternoon, from other language schools in France and Italy I am used to three or four per week plus more social activities, and a more social vibe at school. Which makes this school definitely a bit less suitable for a “language learning vacation”, if you are looking for that.

Intensive 25 - excellent overall although could be a bit more structured in providing information on how to use the Intranet site, coverage and exercises for the week ahead and 'homework'.

It would have been beneficial to have information before / on arrival about laundry, meal times, which rooms I could use in the flat, room cleaning etc as this was not clear to me for some time.

Cons: There was no wireless internet available for the entire month of August. Just before leaving for France, I was asked to provide proof of my payment to the school as they could not find it. After I had wired the money to the school, I emailed a request that they confirmed that they received the money. I received a response that they had, indeed, received the money. So it was disconcerting to be asked to provide proof of payment. I understand that ownership has changed and this has caused some transition difficulties.

I really liked how the classes were from 9-13 monday to friday, because you still had time to hang out with friends, explore the city etc. after school. The location of the school was perfect, just by the Seine, walking distance to Notre Dame and so many street cafes and life.

When I read the description of the school, it said that the average age of the students are 27 year old or something. I am 40, so I thought I wouldn't be able to make friends at school but I met students youngest 17 year old and oldest 62 year old. I made lots of friends there and teachers and admin staffs were all very very friendly.

They arrange so many activities on Thu. & Fri. afternoons, and weekend trips as well. There are very good opportunities to talk to the teachers and admin staffs in French and you can also learn more about the city and culture. Definitely worth joining the afternoon activities. My favourite one was making my own perfume with one of the admin lady. Now I have my original perfume!!!

The school is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and shops which sell food. You can enjoy so many kinds of food there.

Paris is not a clean city and public transportation is not reliable. People are not so friendly on the surface but once they know you they can be very friendly and helpful. Everything is expensive and customer service is not so good. Having said that, this is my 6th time visiting this city and if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have come back here so often. So this city is somewhat attractive but I don't know why. I have to come back here to find out.

I am 100% happy with my study at Eurocentres. I regret not to have taken a longer course though. 4 weeks studying French from the scratch is not enough at all. If given the chance I would definitely go back there and study another 4 to 8 weeks. No complaints at all. Amazing experience.

Brenda was an excellent instructor. She kept pace with the course materials. The reception staff was accommodating.

Being a very non-traditional student you may want to discuss with future students the class which was made up of ages from 16-23. This was not a problem for me, but I wonder if others may have trouble fitting in.

Other comments

The course material was more intense than I experienced in a 6-week course at my home university. I walked away with an overload of vocabulary, grammar and verb conjugations. Excellent overall. I still have pronunciation issues, but I'm planning on coming back in April.
