The school's programme was a success all round. The teachers were very committed and competent. I also enjoyed the leisure activities. The overall atmosphere was good.
Negative aspects
The learning material was useful, but could have been better.
City/place
Great city. Even though I was there as a tourist myself, I thought it was good that the city itself wasn't overrun by tourists. Life in the city was shaped by the locals.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Very good.

There are only two teachers, one teaches in a small room and the other at the entrance. So it's not possible to organize students into their levels. In my class, there wasn't any organised work. We only spoke, about politics and history. We had a book, but in a week we only did 5 or 6 pages. The progress I made, I did on my own.

Positive aspects of school
1. I had great chemistry with the teacher in private lessons! 2. the director of the school was nice.
Negative aspects
Too little care by the management for the teaching equipment, which should have been available to the teacher: Board, marker, wiper, ...didn't fit together or were broken. For the fact that there were only 10 hours of lessons for me, there was too little on offer.
Accommodation
In comparison to the expense (flight and hotel costs) for 10 hours of private lessons, the hotel was too expensive at 75,-/night!

Very good class with a dedicated teacher. It was fun and educational. Anastasia responded to all questions and adapted the level to the learners. Since nobody was on site with my level, private lessons and additional exercises were added so that everyone learns as much as possible.
Negative aspects
Compared to other language schools, there are hardly any leisure activities on offer. The school is quite small and there is no separate room for doing homework, reading or similar.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Bring a laptop, so you can work out what you have learned in a structured way. You will receive information and follow-up information about this during the week and it is therefore nice if you can easily put that together. There is also a program to learn words: wozzol.nl. Works great and can be used for training. Another reason to bring a laptop: you feed this program the fastest from Excel.
Other comments
I wouldn't book a transfer to and from the airport. That is more than twice as expensive as if you arrange taxi transport yourself. By bus and from the bus station in Thessaloniki by taxi is much cheaper.
City/place
The city has stolen my heart. It is a very large and busy city, but I could live there as long as it is outside the center. I did not take advantage of the nightlife. I rarely or never do in NL. I felt safe there, but of course I have not been in the middle of the center at night or in probably also existing lesser neighborhoods. There were beggars (handicapped and elderly) and gypsies selling or begging. For a city of this size, there were extremely few. Public transport is cheap and frequent, but a taxi is only slightly more expensive, so that is my preference. You have to speak Greek, because drivers hardly speak anything. I did manage well and never once in the city felt that I was being dropped off. The museums in the city are worth a look, but important museums like the ethnographic are not open at the specified times. Unfortunately, the musical instrument museum is completely closed to the public. You can enjoy excellent food in Thessaloniki for a very reasonable price, somewhere between 6-20 euros including drinks. The shops are expensive. Buying clothes is not a good idea, the prices are excessively high. Supermarkets have a Dutch or higher price level.
Quality of teaching / language progress
I am very pleased with the teachers, but the location is very simple. Doesn't really look like a school, at least not in the perception I expected. More like a conference room. It's sufficient. I have not seen a library.

Positive aspects of school
The Greek grammar can be explained very well especially by the teacher Anousso. But overall, the lessons with Christos were very 'cozy' and conservative. That means the teacher talks 80 percent of the time, the students a maximum of 20 percent. When we asked him to encourage more speaking (we were only 2 students), he said that it was not yet possible in one week. The other participant (a Protestant pastor) and I had a good basic vocabulary. Apparently he had neither looked at the test nor at the few sentences one should write to oneself. Not a word was said about the test. - I know language schools in England and in France and have experienced wonderful, learning-intensive lessons there. - But the teaching in Thessaloniki is didactically stopped a long time ago. Unfortunately, the initial professional impression was deceptive. Humanly, the two teachers were okay and very nice. But there I can unfortunately not recommend anything. For information about my motivation: In addition to the 5 hours of lessons, I invested a total of another 5 hours of learning per day in the evening and early in the morning. - I was happy to skip the last day because the Thursday class was extremely boring.
