Student opinions about Accord French Language School, Paris

Liked
I stayed on my own and took the metro so I really cannot evaluate the social activities or accommodations. I was extremely pleased with the quality of instruction especially by my regular professor Andrea and the cultural class instructor Liliane. I love the location and the lovely building which was very comfortable in every way. I was pleased with the process used to place me and it turned out to be just perfect for me. All of the staff were communicative and courteous.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss Take the metro anywhere after class! I recommend seeing the 14 arrondissment which is a neighborhood where you can use your French. It's not touristy.

The teaching was EXCELLENT...and I'm a teacher-trainer for second-language teachers. These teachers just did a really super job. The classes were smaller than advertised, which shows that the school is willing to run small classes if necessary rather than shoehorning students into wherever there's space. There was a good mix of nationalities in the classes, too.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss This school has NO registration fee, which will save you €50-€85, so that's important for short-term students to know. Important tip for the coffee machine in the cafeteria: first put in money, then choose how much sugar, and only then choose the type of drink you want. Otherwise you'll get "medium sugar" in everything! If you are in the market for souvenirs, there's an "overstock store" down the road that has a supply. Also, there's a theater next door that has a really funny show, all in English.

Other comments I was only there for 1 week, and I'm very low level, but everyone was as kind and helpful as if I'd signed up for a year! All of these intensive courses are expensive, however...probably best for either tourists or prospective university students who need to learn French ASAP.

I felt perfectly placed in the course level. The number of participants was perfect; not too many/not too few. The best thing was the teacher! She was great professionally and also cheerful and motivating. The time flew by and I left with the best impulses, knowing that I would book a follow-up as soon as possible! Absolutely recommendable! Thank you!

I was lucky to have a good teacher. The classes were interesting, interesting topics were discussed.
Disliked
- I did miss though a clear programme and curriculum that was being used during the classes. It really depended on the subjects chosen by the teacher, which were - as mentioned - very interesting but also very random. There was no specific curriculum of, for instance, B2-level grammar (which I did) that we could go through. Sometimes too much time was spent on explaining very basic (A1/2-level) grammar as the level of French of some students was definitely not B2, which brings me to my next point. - I would suggest that the assessment of the students' language knowledge prior to enrollment be revised. The online language test was very short and simple, and I felt that a number of students in my class did not have the level they had signed up for, which adversely affected the quality of the class. - Minor detail, but perhaps still worth mentioning, there were very few toilets at the institute, only two, resulting in long queues during breaks.

Quality of teaching / language progress: Dominique Leandri is a highly skilled teacher and probably the best I have ever had. I would certainly return to this school again on my subsequent trips to Paris.
Other comments Excellent school and I have tried a few of them in Paris. This is my favourite so far.

Questions and answers about Accord French Language School

  • Our partner schools in Paris don't offer Senior courses. I can recommend you the Oral Communication course offered by the Accord French language school. You can start the course any Monday if you speak some French. Students get along well during the lessons as their language level and their goals are the same. The 50+ courses tend to be geared toward a slower learning curve with a focus on sight-seeing and socialising. If your intention is a more serious study, I do recommend you the Oral Communication course which includes the Intensive Course A (26 standard French lessons per week) and 8 afternoon lessons dedicated to Oral Communication. If this is too intensive for you you can book only the afternoon Oral Communication lessons (8 lessons per week).
    Angela Ligartova, LanguageCourse.net - Mar 08, 2022
  • No. This module is a theory module. Sight-seeing is not offered. The module takes place twice a week for 3 hours each Monday and Friday.
Helena, Administration from Accord French Language School, Paris - Mar 15, 2023
  • Mother and son are welcome to learn French together in 2:1 semi-private lessons. The lessons are expected to take place in the afternoon and at least one double lesson (120 minutes) must be booked per day.
Alexandra, from Accord French Language School - Mar 23, 2023
  • Yes, you will receive the French test as a Word document with your booking confirmation, which you fill out and send back to us no later than the Thursday before the course starts.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 12, 2023
  • On arrival, the student's name and the classroom number will be listed at the entrance of Accord school.
    Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Apr 12, 2023
  • ACCORD does not offer a formal activity programme for our adult students, as our students at our ACCORD Tour Eiffel school organize their own social activities.
We have partners who offer weekend trips and sightseeing. Their programmes are posted around the school so students can see if they are interested in any of the activities. Once in Paris, you can decide whether to participate (or not) and book and pay for the visit/excursion directly with our partners.
