Location: Active Language Learning is located in the coastal town of Dun Laoghaire, 12 km south of the Irish capital city, Dublin. Course selection: Course selection at Active Language Learning offers something for adult and junior students alike. Adult courses in General English and Exam Preparation (IELTS, CAE, FCE) are available throughout the year, with specific junior programmes scheduled during the summer months.
School facilities: The school consists of two adjoined buildings, fully restored and purpose-built for teaching. The intensive English programme is the general English course plus 3 hours of private classes. The intensive English programme is a great way to get the individual attention you need to deal with ingrained errors. Private classes are also a great way to learn and practice the specialised vocabulary and/or skills you need for your job.
This, coupled with the General English programme, focusing on improving your reading, writing, speaking, listening and pronunciation, as well as improving on and learning new grammar provides and intensive and rewarding learning experience. A wide range of classes and levels ensures that you will be placed with students of the same ability.
What are the classes like?
Private classes are organised at your convenience – normally on Monday, Wednesday or Friday afternoons. Depending on your needs the school will assign you the teacher who is best able to help you.
Group classes are split into two sessions every day. You’ll have a different teacher for each class. This gives students a chance to experience different accents, different skills and a different teaching style.

Teachers like to bring in materials which are interesting for students, such as newspapers, magazines, short videos and even TED talks. At ALL, we believe that the best way to learn is through relevant and up-to-date material. There is also a culture focus in class – you can expect to learn about Irish culture, music and food.

Carefully chosen families who all live within reach of the centre are available to students all year. Private bedrooms are offered by experienced families who warmly welcome students into their homes. Executive Homestays are also offered catering for students who wish to avail of private bathroom.
The accommodations manager visits every family who apply to Active Language Learning and monitors from student feedback on a constant basis. Full family details are sent to students prior to their arrival and contact is encouraged between both parties to establish common social goals. Full board includes breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal. Also included is hot water at all times, laundry facilities (dry cleaning not included) and all general common family lifestyle living.
