Izmir ratings & opinions
How our students rated their experience in Izmir
What our students said about Izmir
Izmir is very beautiful. However, almost all of historic Smyrna, including its historic buildings, was lost in the fire of 1922, and what remains has unfortunately been left to decay for the most part. Efforts are being made to rebuild the remaining historic buildings according to preservation criteria. This will do the city a lot of good.
Turkey
Beautiful, located by the sea; unfortunately many houses in Alsankcak are falling into disrepair
Austria
A very interesting city. A kind of Bologna of Turkey, just much, much bigger.
Switzerland
Big beautiful city, lots of walking options, long promenade, great sea views.
Russia
It's a good place to live. Very modern. Favourable public transport offers.
Germany

Germany

It was a really great organisation. I never felt alone. The group fitted together very well. It was good togetherness. We were motivated to speak, which is not always the case with language courses. The host family was a very good choice. I particularly liked the fact that I had to speak Turkish with the family. You get more out of it than if you switch to English or even German. All in all, I was more than satisfied and would recommend this school to anyone.
No matter what age.Everyone feels welcome and the window to life is opened wider.

Rüya and Koray are very good and patient teachers. They made learning Turkish fun! The small group of 5 students was perfect. The location in Bostanli is nice and very well connected, via ferry also to Alsancak and Konak.

Since I took my course during off-peak dates, I had my teacher all to myself. Great! The teaching material is much better than what I know from Germany and I can say that the two weeks were a complete success.

Our teacher (Tuba) explained everything very well and with a touch of humour. If the grammar was too much for you, it was always explained in detail. I can recommend the school and my teacher Tuba highly! What I found very good was that it was a small class.

Very friendly and accommodating teacher. She was able to explain everything super well and understandably on a low-threshold basis. The atmosphere was pleasant and all questions were addressed. I felt in good hands here! The assistance by Tanja was also great and I felt very well accompanied.

I was fortunate that I was the only beginner due to the effects of the Corona and had a dedicated, careful teacher. She was able to include my interests and so the week went by in a flash. I now have a certain overview and can use very simple conversation in everyday life.
It would be good if the school had the technical means that you can also hear your own pronunciation.
Everything simple and perfect

Turkish was spoken most of the time. Only new grammar was explained in English. The teachers are all very nice and helpful. Even if there are problems outside the school, they will help you.

I liked everything very much. The teachers were extremely warm, absolutely patient, fit in their field and in a good mood every day. The teaching layout is also great. 3 x 1.5 hours and breaks in between works well. Since we were very quick with the teaching material, I learned a lot in the 2 weeks! I'll be back next year !!! :)

The teacher, lesson.
There is no library and the material (copies) are not very readable either. The accommodations (prices) are overpriced. There are no apartments as advertised on the website. The accommodation is always in apartments with the apartment owner who also lives there himself. So similar to a WG! Is really great if you have a newer building, but set too high by the price.

Very nice ladies; My 4 stars for 'quality of teaching' does not relate to the teachers, but to my own language progress. I do not know what might help me make better progress.

FAQ about schools in Izmir
- I am an absolute beginner and would like to focus on practical conversation rather than grammar. Is that possible?“If you are an absolute beginner, you will need grammar before you can converse, as you will naturally need to learn to build sentences first. ”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 12, 2024Didn't find what you are looking for?Interested in language travel to other cities?
