A unique feature of Ali Baba’s programs is the Jordanian homestay accommodation service. Indeed, staying with a local Jordanian family is the best accommodation option if you are looking to inject culture, and better understand Jordan and its people through a mutual exchange of traditions, knowledge and culture in a safe and caring environment.
Families Selection
The school has a large variety of responsible and trustworthy families of all different kinds to ensure that they find you the perfect match. All of the homestay families have been selected because they have a genuine interest in international students and will make you feel welcome from the very beginning. They are patient, caring, and will do their best to ensure that you will enjoy your homestay experience. There is normally plenty of opportunities for conversation practice as Jordanians are sociable and have deep interest in knowing about other peoples’ cultures. If conversations become difficult to follow in Arabic, don’t worry as most families will have an elementary or intermediate level of English! Regular visits to host families are made to check they are an appropriate standard.
House Structure & Location
The majority of thw host families live in upper-class residential areas; the northern and western parts of Amman. A host family may live in a large apartment or in an independent house. A typical house/apartment will have a living room/dining room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and three or four bedrooms. A few families live within a walking distance from the center, other families live in different parts of Amman. The average Taxi drive to the center from most host families naturally varies, but in general they are within a 10-minute cab ride away in reasonable traffic.
What Families Offer
Wireless Internet access and utilities (water, electricity, gas) and two meals are included in the rental price. Some of the main features of homestay include:
- Accommodation is half board, you will eat breakfast and dinner together with the host family.
