Location: Amauta Spanish School Cuzco is located in the beautiful and historic city of Cuzco, Peru. The school is housed within walking distance of the infamous Plaza de Armas and has several amenities, bars, ceviche restaurants, and attractions nearby. Attractions and sites of interest within a 15-minute walk of the school include the Plaza de Armas, Cuzco Cathedral, Kurikancha and much more.
Course selection: The course selection is abundant, with many Spanish courses given in conjunction with activities and subjects relevant to the local area, culture, and landscape. In addition to General Spanish courses taught in groups or privately, Amauta Spanish School Cuzco supplies Spanish with volunteer work, spirituality programmes, trekking through the Sacred Valley, programmes in the Inca Civilisation and the local language of Quechua, and much more. Medical Spanish, Peruvian Cuisine, Peruvian Music & Dance and various adventure programmes, including river rafting, paragliding, yoga and rock climbing, are also readily available.
Getting around: The centre of Cuzco and many of its attractions are within walking distance of the school. There are an array of tour companies to choose from, allowing the local areas and attractions to be trekked and discovered easily. The school is within a 10-minute taxi or 30-minute walk of the Cruz del Sur bus terminal, which is the station used for most long-distance bus arrivals and departures.

If there are no group courses available at the student's Spanish level, the school will instead offer 2 sessions of individual classes (for a single student) instead of 4 group sessions.
Learning Spanish in a group environment encourages conversation and helps you learn from your peers. The Spanish group lessons are small – maximum 6 students per group - to allow for personalized teaching. You will always study in a group with others who are at the same level of Spanish to make sure you can learn together at the appropriate pace. Intensive Spanish group courses run for 4 hours a day, either in the morning or the afternoon.
The intensive Spanish group course consists of two 2-hour classes taught by qualified teachers. There is a 20-minute break in between. The teachers dedicate most of the time to interactive activities and exercises through which you learn to understand and speak Spanish. There is also time for Spanish grammar exercises, writing and reading. Visits to typical locations around the city, such as the market, an iconic neighbourhood, a typical street etc., are often arranged to aid student learning.

Study Spanish in Cusco during the magical Christmas season and experience different celebrating holiday traditions with our Christmas course in Peru! The Spanish + Christmas Course includes visits to Santurantikuy, the famous Andean Christmas market of Cusco. The rich colors and intricate designs of the traditional Peruvian weavings are some of the most beautiful hidden secrets of the vast Peruvian culture. All weavings play an essential role in the community traditions of Peru, such as courtship, marriage, childbirth and annual celebrations.
In the unique Spanish courses & Culture in Peru, the school offers a Peruvian Weaving Workshop in Cusco where you will discover the amount of work and devotion that is dedicated to the fabrication of every piece. Experienced Peruvian artisans will teach you traditional weaving and knitting techniques, most commonly using simple handmade looms. Surely but slowly, you will learn how to weave these kinds of textiles.
On Saturdays, there is an opportunity to visit a local community in the surroundings of Cusco, nearby the village of Pisac. The women here are happy to share the extensive weaving process, such as shearing the sheep, cleaning the wool, spinning the yarn, dying the fabrics and weaving the cloths. You also see the various native plants used for the dying and see the different types of threads used. This spectacular field trip shows you first-hand all aspects of this complex art form.

Discover the fascinating beliefs of the Inca people. Peru and Cusco are believed to be some of the most spiritual places on earth. In this Spanish course, you can learn more about yourself through meditation, ceremonial activities and the rituals of the Andean world. A highlight of the program is a hike of meditation through the sacred mountains by following a spiritual Inca route to Machu Picchu, an area of intense magnetism guided by a shaman (Andean priest).
Other activities include a ceremony of coca reading, a “Baño de Florecimiento” (purification bath) and a “Pago a la Tierra”, whereby we will make offerings to create harmony with the Andean deities. Yu will also visit the well-preserved ruins along the Inca Trail and gain further understanding of symbolism.

This camp is a great opportunity for teens interested in a new adventure including bonfires, rafting and hiking, cultural workshops and having fun while learning Spanish.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas is about 1 hour by bus from Cusco. The students will be totally immersed in Peruvian culture from the moment they arrive. The breathtaking scenery and the colorful dresses of the local people are extraordinary and they will start feeling the magic from the moment the camp leaders welcome them onto the campus. From this moment on, alongside four hours of Spanish classes daily, they will enjoy exciting sportive and cultural daily activities such as:
- a hike to the nearby ruins of Pisac with a guided tour,
- an excursion to the salt mines,
- a salsa dancing class,
- a Peruvian cooking class,
- a music class,
- a bonfire and
- a day of river rafting.
You will go to Cusco twice to visit Inca monuments and to do some additional shopping, and over the weekend you will visit the famous ruins of Machu Picchu.

This course includes 15 Spanish lessons per week as well as excursions.
Spanish + Excursions start weekly, with a first-week Spanish group course and tours in and around the city of Cusco. Get to know the stunning Inca Ruins in the surroundings, such as Sacsahuaman, and visit the Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun and typical neighbourhoods such as San Blas. The first weekend, you travel to the Sacred Valley of the Inca’s where you will visit the traditional villages of Pisac and Chinchero, which all have marvellous Inca ruins, colourful markets and beautiful scenery. In Ollantaytambo, you take the train to the fabled and magnificent Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu.
During the following (long) weeks, you explore the Peruvian Jungle and Lake Titicaca while enjoying activities such as cooking workshops or river rafting. In week 2, you travel by bus to Puno and Lake Titicaca, where legends state that the first Inca emerged. Here you will visit the Floating Uros Islands of and the Islands of Amantaní and Taquile, where the people still have a distinct and unique lifestyle.

AMAUTA’s Medical Spanish in Peru is for doctors, nurses, social workers and other health professionals. During the Medical Spanish in Peru, the teachers focus on medical terminology in Spanish to develop your Spanish skills for communicating with Spanish-speaking clients.
Special attention is given to cultural differences between the western world and Latin America, including information on how health, illness and family issues are addressed in the Latin community.
The specialization classes of Medical Spanish in Peru will focus on medical vocabulary in Spanish and conversation skills that are useful when working in the medical field. There is also attention to topics such as traditional Andean medicine, and field trips are included.

The Spanish and TEFL course participants will learn or improve their Spanish while obtaining a TEFL certificate in Peru. The TEFL certificate allows you to get a job as a certified English teacher, not only in Peru but anywhere in the world.

Each morning students will attend group classes with students at their level of understanding and comprehension. In the afternoons they will have individual classes with one of the school's qualified teachers who have extensive experience in preparing students for the DELE exams.
During the Spanish & DELE courses in Cusco, the school ensures that you are well prepared for the exam. The teachers assist in weak areas and consolidate the foundations of your current knowledge. Each morning you will attend Spanish group classes at your level together with other students. In the afternoons, you will have individual Spanish lessons with one of the qualified teachers who have extensive experience preparing students for the DELE exams. Together, you will improve oral and written skills, grammar, pronunciation, and general understanding, focusing on strengthening your weaker points.

This course allows you to do a Spanish course in Peru followed by one of Peru’s ancient hikes, the Salkantay trek. Enjoy the magnificent wilderness after your Spanish course; the Salkantay Trek, also known as ‘the alternative Inca Trail’, is one of the most popular hikes to the Inca citadel Machu Picchu.
