What we like about the school
  • Modern, spacious Student Centre with sun terrace and award-winning gardens.
  • Excellent nationality mix. No student nationality makes up more than 15% of students.
  • Electronic whiteboards in all classrooms.
What we dislike about the school
  • Lessons are 45 minutes long, which is shorter than in other schools.

Venue: Anglo-Continental has one of the largest English School campuses in the United Kingdom, located just on the outskirts of the coastal city of Bournemouth. The tranquil setting is only a short bus trip from Bournemouth’s dynamic city centre where students will find lots of commercial shops, an array of restaurants to choose from as well as a lively nightlife scene. In the area around the school students can find smaller local shops and wide green spaces, including Meyrick Park, the biggest in the city.

The school: Anglo-Continental has seven decades of experience in the sector. The school was founded in 1950 and has a vastly diverse student body. Over the years they have welcomed students of more than 120 different nationalities. They have a large catalogue of courses which run year round for adult learners as well as summer programmes for children and teens. They offer courses in General English of varying intensity, Exam Preparation, Business and Executive programmes, English for Aviation, as well as certified courses for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language.

Getting around: Although the school is away from the hub of the city, it is still possible to walk to the centre. Students can reach The Square, which marks the city centre, in under 20 minutes on foot, though to reach Bournemouth Pier takes half an hour. Bournemouth is serviced by reliable buses and it is easy to get around when walking isn’t what you want to be doing. The Bournemouth Railway Station, with lines to London and other southern cities, is a short stroll from Anglo-Continental, approximately 15 minutes, while a drive to Bournemouth Airport takes about the same amount of time.

Anglo Continental hosts a large mix of students from different countries which really accentuates the change of scenery and brings us to speak English with other students. The teachers are friendly and open, while ensuring quality teaching. Activities are always lively and the staff is great! Places are really nice especially the cafeteria and gardens
Insider tip: Sports activities on the beach. visits outside Bournemouth organized by school.

Other comments Only downside : the evaluation test led me to a level slightly below the one I was expecting and despite another test, I was not allowed to pass to a higher level. I got a bit bored as I was learning again some points I had already seen before.

Other comments the rooms are too small for the number of participants and the student's number must not exceed 12 otherwise the attention for the lesson will decrase, the timeto talk for everyone is very little too, and the workgroup become very difficult.I'm 10 years experienced in this area and I have a really excellent opinion of this school.
