The content was good. But also: In the case of audios, new vocabulary was not introduced in advance, so that the content was sometimes not understood. Overall, there is still room for improvement."

“When I read the description of the school, it said that the average age of the students are 27 year old or something. I am 40, so I thought I wouldn't be able to make friends at school but I met students youngest 17 year old and oldest 62 year old. I made lots of friends there and teachers and admin staffs were all very very friendly.”
Insider tip: “They arrange so many activities on Thu. & Fri. afternoons, and weekend trips as well. There are very good opportunities to talk to the teachers and admin staffs in French and you can also learn more about the city and culture. Definitely worth joining the afternoon activities. My favourite one was making my own perfume with one of the admin lady. Now I have my original perfume!!!”

Quality of teaching / language progress: I am 100% happy with my study at Eurocentres. I regret not to have taken a longer course though. 4 weeks studying French from the scratch is not enough at all. If given the chance I would definitely go back there and study another 4 to 8 weeks. No complaints at all. Amazing experience.Other comments: The school is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and shops which sell food. You can enjoy so many kinds of food there.

“Brenda was an excellent instructor. She kept pace with the course materials. The reception staff was accommodating.”
Insider tip: “Being a very non-traditional student you may want to discuss with future students the class which was made up of ages from 16-23. This was not a problem for me, but I wonder if others may have trouble fitting in.”

Other comments: The course material was more intense than I experienced in a 6-week course at my home university. I walked away with an overload of vocabulary, grammar and verb conjugations. Excellent overall. I still have pronunciation issues, but I'm planning on coming back in April.

“The best thing was the way of teaching and the teaching methods. The central location of the school was great too.”
Details of the review
Quality of teaching / language progress: I really liked how the classes were from 9-13 monday to friday, because you still had time to hang out with friends, explore the city etc. after school. The location of the school was perfect, just by the Seine, walking distance to Notre Dame and so many street cafes and life.

“The location is amazing. The staff is super friendly. Most teachers were quite good or really good.”
“Not all teachers were good. (I had 4, one was bad.) The organisation of tests and exams is a bit chaotic. People are making tests in the same room were discussions are being held. The online system is not really intuitive. There was one excursion in the afternoon, from other language schools in France and Italy I am used to three or four per week plus more social activities, and a more social vibe at school. Which makes this school definitely a bit less suitable for a “language learning vacation”, if you are looking for that.”

Other comments: Cons: There was no wireless internet available for the entire month of August. Just before leaving for France, I was asked to provide proof of my payment to the school as they could not find it. After I had wired the money to the school, I emailed a request that they confirmed that they received the money. I received a response that they had, indeed, received the money. So it was disconcerting to be asked to provide proof of payment. I understand that ownership has changed and this has caused some transition difficulties.

“Good and very good teachers.”
“Because of lack of students of my level I was put in a group with many people who had a much lower level. Even though the teachers are good, it didn't stimulate me as much as the last time, where I was with students of my own level. 8:30 is rather early to start and there were no excursions probably because there is not much enthusiasm at this school for activities outside of the class room.”

Questions and answers about Bayswater

If I book a homestay with breakfast, can I cook for myself in the evening?
“Please note that the student does not have access to the kitchen to prepare their own food.”
Leon Jacob, Registration from Bayswater - Mar 11, 2024
I want to book a course at Bayswater Paris with 3 friends. Will we be studying in the same group?
“Groups are organised according to language level. Before starting your course at Bayswater Paris, you will be asked to complete a level test and, based on the results, you will be allocated to the appropriate group.
Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Oct 25, 2023
Can you tell me something about the location of the school?
“Bayswater is located at 13 Passage Dauphine - 75006 Paris. The school is perfectly located on a quiet pedestrian street in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It is very close to all attractions: the banks of the Seine, the Louvre Museum or the Orsay Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral or the Luxembourg Park are within walking distance. The Latin Quarter is one of the young, trendy and vibrant areas of Paris with fashionable shops, fun and lively sidewalk cafes, bakeries and patisseries.”
Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 30, 2023
Where exactly are the host families located?
“Homestay accommodation is organized at the time of booking. Personal interests of the students, eating habits, allergies, age, etc. are taken into account in the assignment. The families are about 45 minutes away from the school by public transport. Some students are closer to the school, others also have to drive a little longer. We cannot guarantee that in advance because we do not yet know your personal profile. Unfortunately, you cannot select a specific family in advance of the booking, because the school only organizes the accommodation when you make the reservation.”
Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 30, 2023
My daughter is already 14 and is now in her 5th year learning French. How is the course structured? If very young children take part there, they are probably beginners. Are there learning groups based on age or level of knowledge?
“The children in the programme are 10-14 years old and are divided into different classes after a placement test. Your daughter will then learn at a fairly high level with correspondingly older students, according to her level of knowledge. The materials and teaching methods are also adapted to the interests of juniors so that they have fun while learning!”
Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 30, 2023
Can my daughter (14 years old) participate in the Standard General French course?
“The minimum age at the school for the regular courses is 16 years. In summer, there is the possibility to participate in the Young Learners Programme. The courses have fixed starting dates.”
Leon-Jacob, Administration from Bayswater, Paris - Feb 28, 2023
