Location: Cambridge Academy of English (CAE) is located in the university city of Cambridge, in the east of England. A city on the River Cam, Cambridge offers students a unique backdrop for studying, has many student orientated facilities and museums, and is well equipped with restaurants, parks, supermarkets and local attractions. The CAE school is situated in a nice residential area, a 15-minute bus journey from the city centre. London Stansted Airport is around 40km from Cambridge.

This course is perfect for young people looking for an international English course. Each summer around 20 different nationalities come on the Teenage Residential Course (14-17) for a great time in the United Kingdom. You may want to prepare for an exam, practise your English with students from all over the world, try your skills at cooking, do team sports or relax in the swimming pool. You’ll have a fantastic time and want to come back for more next year.
Bedford School is a private boarding school within the town. It has been on its current site for over 120 years. In summer it becomes the centre for the teenage residential (14-17) course.
The school is a beautiful and safe building and is surrounded by 50 acres of its own excellent sporting facilities and a large picturesque park and gardens. Bedford School is in a secure town centre location. It is less than an hour by road from Cambridge and London and conveniently located to Luton Airport.
Academic Programme
- All students are interviewed and tested on arrival.
- Classes are allocated by language level, nationality mix, age and
gender. - Level-based Project work classes give students a chance to practise
all 4 skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. - Excursion Classes (preparation and follow-up) link up the classroom
language to the English-speaking environment. - Afternoon Electives give you time to learn English by doing things
you like. - Join two weekly Electives in each 2-week programme.
- Daily Portfolio and Homework sessions give you time to review your
progress, complete homework tasks and take part in Student
Committee meetings. - Free learning materials.
- Teenagers prepare a special CAE Portfolio to take home as a record
of their achievements on the course. - Students receive an end-of-course report and CAE Course

The courses offer you some great activities and sports every weekday afternoon. There’s an indoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts and a large sports hall. Everyone will have favourites but the school also encourages you to try something completely new!

Special note for 2024 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2024 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2023 many schools were fully booked during the holidays, and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2024 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

The Children’s Residential will take good care of you! It’s a big step for children and parents to be away from home for the first time, and to be using English during the day. It combines 24-hour supervision, interesting lessons and fun activities to show each child that English is so much more than books and tests. Returning home and telling your parents what you did in England is amazing.
All the young learner courses will operate from Bedford School in 2023. The school is located to the north of Bedford town centre, in a leafy quiet residential area. It is a peaceful site with large grounds and sporting facilities. The school is less than 50 minutes from Cambridge and conveniently located to Luton, Stansted and Heathrow Airport.

This is the ideal teenage residential (12-15) summer course and a wonderful place for a summer adventure of learning and discovering new activities and sports. The school has its own tennis courts, heated indoor swimming pool and facilities for creative arts. There’s a really varied programme with lots of highlights throughout each week.
Bedford School is a private boarding school. In summer it becomes the centre for the CAE teenage residential (12-15) course.
