English Courses
The CISS English & Culture programme offers students the unique opportunity to both learn English in the privacy and comfort of a teacher's home, and experience Canada as they take in the sights and attractions of the city they are visiting with the company of their teacher. Students participating in this unique programme select three sightseeing destinations for each week they stay. Teacher hosts accompany students on all excursions, making sightseeing so much more meaningful and enjoyable.
This programme is customized for you. Upon arrival, you and your teacher determine the schedule for your studies. Whether you prefer to have lessons in the morning leaving your afternoons free for sightseeing, or you prefer to have lessons in the afternoon giving you a chance to relax in the morning, you can discuss the options with your teacher.
The One-to-One Intensive course is the ideal choice, if your goal is to focus mainly on English lessons. Outside of your lesson times, you will have plenty of opportunity to independently plan your own sightseeing or shopping activities. Your teacher is available to assist you and provide suggestions, but this is your chance to explore and experience the city for yourself. It's also the perfect way to put the English you have learned in your lessons to practical use!

Experience the latest approach to language learning! CISS Vancouver operates on the beautiful campus of Capilano University in North Vancouver; an urban location with modern facilities in harmony with its breathtaking natural environment. Inspired by the beauty and history of the land, and Vancouver’s reputation as a global city of the future, this programme offers students an innovative approach to language learning by combining dynamic Global English classes with our unique “21st Century Skills” workshop series.
Morning English classes offer a student-centred, progressive approach to language acquisition. Using modern language-teaching techniques, our highly qualified and experienced English teachers focus on improving communication skills and building confidence in self-expression, while challenging students to expand their vocabulary and improve their knowledge of how the language works.
Two afternoons per week, students participate in workshops designed to enhance the language learning experience while building skills for success in the modern world: collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking.
Workshops also offer an opportunity to practice your English with local Canadian high school students (“ambassadors”). Together, you will work together to discuss and solve challenges related to weekly themes: Environment, Digital Citizenship, and Globalization.
Our One-to-One with Cooking Programme offers the chance to live, study English, AND learn to cook in your teacher’s home. Each week, you and your teacher determine a schedule for both your language lessons and your cooking lessons.
