The intensive English course students CEC Experience begins before they travel to Cork with an online English level test. This short test helps the school to place them in the best class for their success. Students will learn all the essentials of the English language through task-based methodology. While the communicative approach is central, they also consider the individual learning style of the students to ensure they achieve the best possible learning outcomes. The TOEIC preparation classes focus on development of business language and skills with an emphasis on vocabulary and listening while also familiarizing students with TOEIC exam tasks. A students CEC Experience begins before they travel to Cork with the online English level test. This short test confirms a student’s current level and helps us to place them in the best class for their success.
The intensive courses prepare you for all the components of the examinations: reading, writing, use of English, listening and speaking, and include regular timed examination practice with feedback from our trainers plus access to our E-Learning platform for further examination practice.

CEC's examination courses prepare students for all the components of the examinations: Reading, Use of English, Comprehension, Listening Comprehension and Speaking. Students will complete sample papers and examination practice.
The classes are small and very intensive with every effort made to prepare students for every aspect of the examination on a daily basis ensuring adequate cover of each of the skills. Please note that students must be of an Upper Intermediate Level of English to take part in this course. A placement test will be administered on arrival at the school to confirm the student’s level of English.
Cork English College has run these courses for a number of years and students have achieved excellent results.
As CEC is now an OPEN Cambridge Testing centre, students have the possibility to take the FCE and CAE tests in the college. CEC is the ONLY computer based Testing Centre in Cork.

IELTS (International Language Testing System) measures your ability to use academic English and is the entry requirement for those students wishing to study in an English speaking university. The course is ideal for students planning to attend university in an English speaking country and is also ideal for professionals such as doctors, nurses and dentists who require proof of their level of English.
CEC's courses are suited to both lower level IELTS (5.5-6.0) and higher level (6.5-8.0). The course aims to develop students’ general English language and skills knowledge while also providing thorough preparation in the format of the IELTS test. Classes give a thorough grounding in all four skills as well as expanding general English vocabulary, improving grammar and perfecting students’ functional and conversational language.
In addition to focusing on the format of the exam (both General Training and Academic as required) and on improving test-taking techniques, classes help students to improve the specific language areas and issues associated with IELTS. Through integrated exam practice students strengthen their ability to respond effectively to exam tasks and maximize their IELTS score. The course covers all of the main areas needed to get a better score on the Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening sections of the IELTS test.

The accommodation officer visits each family to ensure that they are of the standard that is required by CEC to host foreign students. The families are selected on the basis of a friendly atmosphere, good food and clean comfortable surroundings.
Host Family accommodation is a chance for the student to become part of an Irish family during their stay in Cork. Each adult student has their own bedroom. CEC ensures that unless otherwise requested there will be only one student of the same mother tongue in the same household.

CEC's Residential apartments are self-catering and consist of 5 or 6 bedrooms, with a shared kitchen. Each student has their own bathroom facilities. Bed linen can be hired from the apartments but students must bring their own towels. All kitchen utensils, crockery etc. are provided and laundry facilities are available.
There is broadband in all rooms. Apartments are cleaned on a weekly basis. It is walking distance from the school and is close to public transport and local amenities.
