The time was wonderful! The teachers, especially Eder and Sandrita, with whom I had the most lessons, were very committed and were able to teach a lot of content really well in a short space of time. All the staff were very nice and supportive. The atmosphere at the school is very informal, I had a really good time there and can recommend the language course to anyone!

I literally liked everything!

I wanted to review my last two weeks at Don Quijote language school. The school is located on a side street with beautiful gardens and casita style, outdoor. class -room setting with thatched roofs. A nice kitchen with bar seating and a table and chairs. All of this makes for an excellent learning environment.
Disliked
I used an online sales organization out of Spain boasting the lowest prices for this school. I waited months for this particular class which was offered to students that were over fifty years of age. They also offered a beginning class. I was extremely excited and enthusiastic about the experience that they showed online! I paid the down payment and was told I would be sent a placement Spanish test. Why would I be given a test of more than eighty questions when I did not know the language, not even the pronunciation of the Spanish alphabet? When I sent the test in, I told them that I guessed on all of the questions. (Total waste of my time)! On the first day of school, I was greeted by Sandrita, the school administrator. I joined other students ranging in age. My class consisted of younger students along with others similar to my age. Clearly this is NOT what I signed up for. I signed up for a beginning class with students that were fifty and older. How disappointed I was and embarrassed that I was in this class with kids and adults that were well beyond my beginning status. It was obvious that I was in an intermediate class. These students already knew the conjugations, verbs, alphabet and could speak sentences in Spanish. Some students had been in the school for weeks. This was definitely a slam to my ego! I became nervous and anxiety set in! Being put in this class was simply wrong! This had nothing to do with my professor, Eder, who was incredible as an instructor. He was impressive, not only with his teaching abilities but also with knowledge of the region, history, culture, and local foods. He also arranged one activity outside of the school. This activity took us on public transportation and to a local park. One assignment at the park was to speak to the locals. It helped me with feeling comfortable asking questions in Spanish that were on my cell phone for reference. I thought there would be more of this type of learning but that did not happen. There were other activities that were required. Some of these activities were a waste of my time since I could not understand Spanish. One of the programmes was a 45-minute explanation of the Day of the Dead but was only in Spanish. Thank you, Eder, for seeing my frustration and finally translating it for me, however embarrassing again since others were understanding the presentation. On the third day, Sandrita asked me to her office and said I was holding the class back! WHAT??? I was the beginner here and placed in an intermediate class! THIS IS JUST WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS!!! If a school does not have enough students that are beginners, they should not be placed into a class that is intermediate. Big hit to my ego!!! Also, remember I had waited months to go to this school because I was told the class would be students of fifty and older and a beginning class. I would not return to this school! I do not think I could recommend this school to my friends or family. I believe my money should be refunded.

They are very accommodating with regard to individual needs. I definitely recommend additional extra private lessons to work on specific things that you want and to improve your confidence in speaking the language even if you have to resort to "Spanglish" here and there!

Quality of teaching / language progress: The course was great and I really enjoyed it.
Other comments Two weeks was perfect. I came back with much improved Spanish from a semi-beginner with the basics only. The teachers are great and the ambiance of the school is terrific. Don't forget to go on trips to the Cenotes and the ruins. Definitely worth it!

I only did one week (2 hrs per day) in private lessons with Fernando. Great teacher and the one on one really made me focus and work on improving my spanish.
Insider tip: If you have limited time, it is worth doing private lessons. Mentally tougher, but definitely helps move your Spanish to the next level

I had booked a 5-day cooking course. On the first day, I was told that I was the only one and that is why I only got 2 lessons. I was not given the option to then cancel the course. However, what was worse was that I was not allowed to cook myself. I was only allowed to spend the lessons watching what the cook was doing beyond just mixing some flour for some pancakes/tortillas and shaping the tortillas. This is not a cooking course!
