If you are looking to develop fluency, target core skills, and truly experience your destination through its language, this dynamic course is your gateway to practical use of English.
This Special Focus Programme combines 20 lessons of General English with 4 lessons focused on language study inspired by your destination, for a complete intensive experience that is tailored to you and your personal reasons for learning.
Structured classroom study will also support each theme, with themes changing weekly. These could include: ‘Business English – Tours of Local Businesses’, ‘Describing Art & Culture – Museum Tours’, ‘Talk like a Local – Neighbourhood Visits’, and ‘The Language of Sports – Stadium Visits’.
Depending on the centre and available timetable, students enrolled in this course will be taken outside the classroom 1 – 2 times per week. Students will visit various locations, which will support the learning they complete in the classroom.

Students under 18 must book homestay, a return airport transfer and provide a parental consent form. Minors traveling with parents are exempt from these requirements.
High season fee not applicable to bookings longer than 12 weeks.
Additional fees:
- Bank transfer fee: GBP 18.
- Student insurance (optional): GBP 10 per week.
- Course material is GBP 7 per week (maximum GBP 56).
Students who want to book one-to-one lessons need to book a minimum of two and a maximum of 10 per week in conjunction with a group course.
Lessons may alternate between morning and afternoon sessions.

Each room is furnished with a bed, desk/table, chest of drawers or a wardrobe, mirror and a waste paper basket. Some rooms have TVs. Additionally, you will have access to common areas such as the lounge, kitchen and dining room. It is important that rooms and living areas are kept neat and tidy. You will also have access to a shared bathroom. Bed linen and towels are provided by the homestay provider, who will offer one wash per week – anything extra will be at the homestay’s discretion. Internet access is available and telephone access is restricted to incoming calls only.
Homestays are arranged by EC as well as via our accommodation partner Hosts International, who are registered with the British Council.

The homestay, chosen by EC or one of its accommodation partners consists of mixed gender accommodation with a single or twin room. Each room is furnished with a bed, desk/table, chest of drawers or a wardrobe, mirror and a waste paper basket. Some rooms have TVs. Additionally, you will have access to common areas such as the lounge, kitchen and dining room. It is important that rooms and living areas are kept neat and tidy. You will also have access to a shared bathroom. Bed linen and towels are provided by the homestay provider, who will offer one wash per week – anything extra will be at the homestay’s discretion. Internet access is available and telephone access is restricted to incoming calls only.
Homestays are arranged by EC as well as via our accommodation partner Hosts International, who are registered with the British Council.
