Position of school in Fukuoka: The school is to the east of the city, close to the Mikasa River. The streets around the school are quiet, but just a short walk away is a central part of the city, with an array of transportation links, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and cafes.
Exploring the city: Genki Japanese and Culture School is right next to the Hakata transit hub. There are a large number of trains leaving from this station. Just up from the train station is a large bus terminal, with regular bus routes around the city.
Local attractions: Due to its position to Hakata transit station, the school is well positioned to explore the city. The Ohori Park and the Fukuoka Castle Ruins are 25 minutes by train or 40 minutes by bus. Kushida Shrine and Fukuoka Asian Art Museum are 20 minutes away by foot from Genki Japanese and Culture School.
Course structure: Japanese courses are possible in a group setting in a weekly structure or as a long term package. During the summer months the school has programmes for young learners that include accommodation. There are specific cthemes that you can add to a general Japanese course to make the classes more structured to your language outcome. These extras include conversational Japanese and a Cultural programme to learn more about the Japanese way of life and use of their own language.
School chain: GenkiJACS, as a group, currently has four schools in Japan, in Fukuoka, Tokyo, Nagoya and Kyoto. Since 2005, GenkiJACS has supplied quality Japanese language tuition and cultural programmes to students of all levels and many nationalities. You won’t get far in Japan without being able to speak the language. With this course, you will be using Japanese on a daily basis from the very first day. No matter how long you choose to study with us, our incredibly individualized approach to teaching will allow you to focus on improving your Japanese ability.

Students in this program must be in possession of a valid visa to stay in Japan for the study period. The school does not offer student visas.
The 24-week course has no breaks. For the 40-week and 60-week courses, there are 7 to 20 weeks of holidays in the middle depending on the starting date and terms.
Beginner students should know the hiragana alphabet.
To take the 1-year course students need to have a pre-intermediate or lower intermediate language level and have a working holiday visa or permanent visa.
You’ll have 20 classes per week - four classes per day. Two focus on grammar and the other two on applying your skills to real-world situations. There is a maximum limit of 8 students per class: by far the smallest of any accredited Japanese school.
The course is only available to students at or below the pre-intermediate level.

The school takes into account your needs or preferences when arranging a host family for you. Your host family members are likely to be the people you become closest to during your stay, which is why the school are extremely thorough when looking through all host family applicants, ensuring that they can provide a suitable environment to assist your learning and allow you to experience Japan fully. Private one-room apartments are similar to a hotel room in quality, but much more spacious! They include a bed, living area; kitchen area, bathroom and all amenities needed for a simple life. Most private apartments are very centrally located and in Fukuoka, they are within easy walking distance of the school. Students over the age of 18 are welcome to stay in a private apartment.
