The opportunity to stay with a Japanese host family is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the culture, and practice at "home" what you learned at school that day.
When arranging a host family for you, the school will try to take into account any needs or preferences you may have, such as smoker or non-smoker, allergies, English ability, and so on. Your host family can act as guides and mentors, friends and companions, and a wonderful resource in your adventure in Japan. They are likely to be the people you become closest to during your stay, which is why the school will perform a thorough screening of all host family applicants, to ensure that they can provide a suitable environment to assist your learning and to allow you to fully experience Japan.
You are guaranteed to have your own private room, which may be either Japanese or Western style.

Private apartments are usually close to a hotel room in quality, but quite a bit cheaper, and can be rented by the week. They include a bed, living room area, kitchen area, and bathroom. Generally, all required appliances are included. High-speed wired Internet is provided for no extra charge. Most private apartments are centrally located in the downtown area. A slightly more expensive, but great option if you enjoy your privacy and convenience.
The school works with third-party accommodation providers who offer apartments all around the city. They are not able to guarantee placement at a specific apartment, or in a specific location. Students will be placed according to availability.

- I would like to do an internship and a language course in Tokyo. Is that possible at the Genki School?“Unfortunately, the Genki School itself does not offer internships, but they work with an organisation that helps with planning. The organisation would need to know in which area the internship should be and then goes in search of something suitable. The internship can then be accompanied by a course at the Genki School. ”Lisa Saskia Schiwy, LanguageCourse.Net - Sep 27, 2023
- When is the best time to land in Tokyo if I use transfer and accommodation from Genki?“Make sure your flight schedule fits the booking and that you don't land before 6 a.m. or after 6 p.m.”Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 19, 2023

- Which visa do I need to study at Genki Tokyo?“At Genki Tokyo, you have two options:
- Visa waiver (2-24 week course)

The school cannot assist you with applying for a student visa.”Sabine Krafack, LanguageCourse.Net - Jan 26, 2024 - Can I come to class with my baby if I can't find a babysitter for 1 or 2 days?“Unfortunately it would not be possible to take the baby to school. We don't have the facilities to look after them and the school can be quite noisy and crowded at times, so the environment really isn't ideal for a baby. Additionally, as this is a smaller school with many classes taking place at the same time, this could potentially cause disruption for our other students. I sincerely apologize, but if you can find daycare or a babysitter for the times you come to class, we would be more than happy to have you with us.”Jessica, Sales Representative from Genki Tokyo - Apr 18, 2024
