Location: IMLC Le Gosier in Guadaloupe is located in the south of Grande Terre, on the oceanfront. With beaches such as the Plage de la Datcha within a 10-minute walk from the school's front doors, IMLC has a great location for students to enjoy Guadaloupe and its beauty to the fullest.

The teacher in the class divided his time between me and the other students, which means that I only got around 2 hours of French, even though I paid for 4 hours a day. "
Special note for 2025 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2025 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2024 many schools were fully booked during the holidays, and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2025 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

“The teachers have very good French with accent-free pronunciation and a pleasant voice. The lessons were tailored to the language level and were a very good mix of grammar exercises, reading, reading comprehension, listening comprehension and conversation. My room had air conditioning and the accommodation was less than a 10 minute walk from the school.”
“They were 100% Swiss students. You pay the full price, but the lessons are reduced depending on the number of students per level. You will be informed of this on the first day of school and you can sign immediately that you accept it. I only had lessons Monday to Friday for 3 hours a day for 2 weeks (3-4 students) and only 2 hours a day for 1 week because we were only 2 students instead of 4 hours a day. I don't think that's okay. If there were 5 of us, we wouldn't have needed any longer to learn the same material. I also thought it was a shame that we didn't have any homework. The class above us, on the other hand, also had homework.
I also booked shared accommodation including dinner and was actually expecting a kind of shared apartment. Instead, I also stayed with a host family (wife, adult daughter and her boyfriend) with only one bathroom and no running water for 8 days. The host families only do it for the money and are not particularly interested in conversation. The food was only mediocre in terms of taste and quantity. In hindsight, I would have much preferred to pay more, take an Aribnb and cook myself. The accommodation had some windows without panes and without mosquito nets, so the apartment was always full of mosquitoes. Beaches are small (and sometimes full of smelly seaweed).”

“Nice teachers who listen to us. Positive: after two weeks of not being able to keep up with the class, when more people arrived (the class was full), a teacher was organised for me who went through the basics with me that I needed in order to be able to understand anything at all.”
“In my opinion, the school as it is currently organised is not suitable for beginners. Despite the placement test, I was in a class where I couldn't keep up at all. I also lacked structure. There were no grammar lessons and no conversation. It felt like they did this and that. With the assumption that you already understand everything and learn more grammar. I expect more conversation lessons from a language school.”

“Afternoon activities & excursions were NOT beeing offered by the school. I was informed that if I'd like to go some place or would like to something in the afternoon I will have to propose it and get a group together. If I have to look things up myself and propose it to the other students I do not need to pay the school afterwards for it, that really is ridiculous!
Also the second day I asked to add private lessons but it failed not due to the capacity (the teacher was more than willing and had the time) but due to the absence of the principal for 2 weeks with no one being in charge. As I was only provided with a bill with a total of more than 1200,-€ as it contained the cost of parts of the course as well (but which I had already paid). There was no personal communication possible for me until Tuesday on my third(!) week and unfortunately I was also NOT able to book via LanguageCourse.net!
Once the principal was back, the school usually started with a delay due to the fact that the teachers don't have a key for the school and him being late in general.”
Insider tip: “It's best to rent a car at least for a few days. In Gosier itself you shouldn't miss the Friday market, the little island Gosier and I also loved the panoramic flight with a sea-plane.”

Depending on the length of your stay, but plan some activities for every day because there are so many things to do and see. Don't rely on public transport, it is a kind of adventure. If you want to travel around the island you will need a car and be ready for neverending traffic jams.”
