The programme consists of academic skills training in all areas, and introduces students to a variety of topics, skills and strategies through four themes, which include:

• General academic content such as reading, summarising, paraphrasing, synthesising and critiquing, essay and report writing, and presentation skills in different subjects areas (biology, literature, technology, communications, etc.)
  
• Elective Content which may include phonetics, pronunciation, debating, drama and others.
  
• Post-secondary academic skills, such as critical thinking, note taking, discussion and research skills, plagiarism, the use of resources and aides, goal setting, research, etc.
  
• Canadian campus culture (level of formality with professors, dorm life, freshers week, sports and clubs, places, etc.)
  
• Wellbeing Advice (living away from home, social life, staying in touch with family, getting involved, taking care of yourself, socio-linguistic and socio-cultural topics)
