Location: International House Darwin is an English language institute located in the capital of Northern Australia, the city of Darwin. The school is housed in the Central Business District, close to restaurants, eateries, shops, links to public transport and several places of social and cultural interest. Places of interest within walking distance of the school include the Harbour Edge Lookout, Crocosaurus Cove, Darwin Waterfront, Fort Hill Wharf and Stokes Hill Wharf.
Course selection: In addition to General English taught over several schedules and intensities and available to students of all levels, IH Darwin also provides programmes in IELTS Exam Preparation.
Social and cultural: IH Darwin offers a diverse and regular social calendar for students to enjoy the company of their peers whilst practising their English language skills.
Accommodation: The school offers accommodation in Homestay with local families and student residences, many of which are within walking distance of the school, hostels and studios.
Getting around: IH Darwin has many attractions and sites of interest within walking distance. Several bus routes are also readily available within a moment's walk of the school's front doors.

All classes are organised to respond directly to individual students’ needs. The focus is on real-world English, taught with a practical, communicative approach supplemented with activities from real-life environments and contexts.
Special note for 2024 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2024 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2023 many schools were fully booked during the holidays, and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2024 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

Upon successful completion of the course, graduates receive the prestigious CELTA certificate issued by the University of Cambridge. The course covers classroom techniques, awareness and analysis of language, how to teach skills, planning and resourcing, and further develops teaching techniques and professionalism.
This course is suitable for native or near-native English speakers who want to work in private language schools around the world. Successful graduates of the Cambridge CELTA course may choose to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) towards the Certificate IV in TESOL.
