As always, the health of our students remains our top priority. So, we have taken some important steps to ensure all members of our #LexisFamily are comfortable and safe.

COVID-19 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.

The health and safety of our students is our top priority. We have taken some important steps to ensure all members of our #LexisFamily are comfortable and safe.

Q: Is hand sanitiser available for students?
A: Hand sanitiser will be available in every classroom, and at the entrances to the school.

Q: Is the school clean?
A: All common areas and classroom are cleaned consistently throughout the day. Bathrooms and toilets are cleaned after every break.

Q: Are masks mandatory?
A: Whilst it is not mandatory to wear a face mask, students will have the option to do so.

Q: Will my temperature be taken?
A: Student’s temperature will not be checked.

Q: Are social distancing rules in place on campus?
A: Both classrooms and common areas have adopted social distancing rules handed down by the government. These will remain until further notice/ recommendation by the state and the federal government.

Q: How many students per class?
A: The maximum number of students per class is 12, the average is 10. Classroom sizes differ between campuses, the maximum number of students is dependent on the space within the class and total student cohort size.

Q: Are classes affected by social distancing?
A: To minimise student movement within the campus and to help us maintain social distancing rules, you will stay with the same teacher for 4 hours per day (plus a 30-minute lunch break) – this applies to both day and evening schedules.

Q: Are the student common area’s open?
A: Student areas are open. All plates, cups, knives and forks have been removed from the kitchens. If you’d like to use the kitchen, bring your utensils each day and remove them when you leave. Shared tea, coffee and sugar have been removed until further notice, hot water is available if you would like to bring your supplies.

Q: Are their sign around the school explaining rules?
A: Social distancing signs are positioned around the school to ensure understanding and compliance.

Q: How do we socially distance during activities?
A: Due to social distancing rules, we can only offer a very limited activity schedule. Job Workshops are still available – contact your Reception staff to book.

Q: How is accommodation affected by COVID regulations?
A: We currently have a “no visitors” rule in place for the student houses – they are usually are allowed one visitor before 10:00 pm. All students have been assigned individual rooms. Reminders are also given to students to follow government-assigned COVID-19 restrictions inside residences. Homestay students must follow the rules of their residence and follow COVID 19 restrictions for their state. If a student is sick they must visit a doctor immediately and self-isolate. Host families are aware of the risks they take when hosting international students. If a homestay student was to get sick, the host family will treat them as if a member of their own family. Luckily, we have not had any cases.

Q: What is the procedure if a Lexis Australia student shows signs of COVID-19?
A: Students are allocated their own seat within their own classroom. This seat does not change or move. The moving of furniture is prohibited. Anyone student or faculty member with cold or flu-like symptoms will be removed from class and be unable to return to campus until they have taken the following actions. 1. They are tested at one of the local COVID-19 testing facilities. 2. They produce a negative test result. 3. This test result is cleared by the Campus Manager before students can re-enter campus.

Currently our additional student activities are not being offered.
