Location: Máximo Nivel Antigua Guatemala is located in the small city of Antigua, in southern Guatemala. The location is surrounded by volcanoes and colonial characteristics, making it very unique to travellers and students alike. Guatemala is hailed as being one of the cheapest locations for learning Spanish natively. The school is within walking distance of amenities, restaurants, eateries, and attractions such as the Plaza Central, Santa Catalina Arch, the Mercado de Artesanias El Carmen and much more. Antigua's old naval dockyard has been a registered UNESCO World Heritage site since 2016.
Social and cultural: The areas surrounding the school are rich in unique places, sites and cultures. Máximo Nivel Antigua takes advantage of this through its extensive social programme, which can include actions and happenings such as hiking to the Pacaya Volcano to roast marshmallows, visiting Lake Atitlan, swimming in the turquoise pools of Semuc Champey, learning to surf and much more.
Course selection: Máximo Nivel Antigua offers Spanish courses to students of all levels. These courses are available in small groups, larger groups or as private or semi-private tuition.
Getting around: The school is within 900m of the bus terminal, ensuring students can travel in and around the city and to destinations further afield accordingly.

By taking part in the school’s Group 20 Spanish course, you will take 20 lessons per week while working closely with your small group of 8 or less fellow students. This small group format ensures that participants receive all the personalised attention that they need during their studies, and also encourages greater levels of interaction and communication between students - ideal for conversation practice.
Classes are available no matter what your current Spanish level is, and you will be assigned to a group that is appropriate for where you currently are.

The Bildungsurlaub program places participants in class for 6 hours per day, 4 hours in small group classes and 2 hours in private lessons.
All levels of the Spanish Immersion programme are approved for use under Bildungsurlaub. This special program provides German employees with time and funding to take part in professional training, such as language studies. Maximo Nivel is recognized for Bildungsurlaub in Berlin, Brandenburg, Niedersachsen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Hamburg, Hessen, Saarland.
Throughout your language training, the teacher will continuously assess your ability in the four language skills – Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing; and the four language systems – Grammar, Vocabulary, Phonology, and Function. Textbooks and materials are all included in course prices, and all of the teachers are experienced native Spanish instructors – either certified in teaching Spanish as a foreign language or with their Bachelors and/or Masters in Education. We also have a free Tandem Conversation Programme offering free conversation practice with local English students to supplement your regular classes.
A one-time BU admin fee is included in the price.
For Bildungsurlaub 30 hours of class per week are required (= 6 hours per day).
Your 4 hours of group classes alternate daily between 8:00 and 12:00 or 13:00 and 17:00; the 2 hours per day of private classes are then scheduled on the other half of the day.
Also, the student receives a special confirmation for the "Bildungsurlaub" which then on the spot can be signed to confirm completed participation in the course.

The super intensive programme works best when coupled with a traditional family-stay in order to maximize your Spanish immersion experience. Super intensive study is recommended for people who want to learn very quickly or who want to break through a learning plateau. Super Intensive programmes are also excellent for university students and business professionals who want maximum gains in the least amount of time. This course includes 4 hours of Spanish classes each day followed by a 1-week surf school course. The Surf programme is in El Zonte, El Salvador. The price includes airport pick-up in Guatemala City, transportation to or from Antigua/El Zonte, Housing for 6 nights with a host family in Antigua and dormitory-style housing at the Surf school. Meals are not included in Guatemala, except with family-stay nights in Antigua.
The surf school is a great program if you want to take surf lessons or if are you an experienced surfer in the country without your board. Maximo Nivel offers professionally run surfing programs with all the equipment you need on 3 of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Peru are world-class surfing destinations - so these are great places to check out the waves!
Get a taste of the fantastic sport of surfing while you are in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Peru. If you have never surfed, take beginner lessons; if you surf now, take advanced lessons or just rent a board. Surfing is a great new challenge to make your travel meaningful!
Guatemala - Surf school takes place in El Salvador, just across the border from Guatemala. This is a great beach getaway to El Zonte, a small village with a relaxing atmosphere and home to many local surfers. Learn everything you need to get started or advance your surfing skills, and in your downtime enjoy the hotel pool and ocean views! When field conditions or travel logistics do not allow easy travel to El Salvador, the surf school is moved to Guatemala’s well-known Playa Hawaii surf destination with beautiful uncrowded waves, black sand beaches, and great instructors.

A pick-up from Lake Atitlan can cost more than USD 100, as it is approximately 3 hours away. The complimentary airport pick-up costs way less. The difference has to be paid.

“The total fee has to be paid for the course and accommodation 2 weeks before arrival. If you are not sure if you will be able to attend 12 weeks for example, you can start by registering for 4 weeks, pay in full before arrival for these 4 weeks, and then extend once you are there.
