Pichilemu Language School has ceased operations - Permanently closed down
Pichilemu is a coastal town in the West coast of Chile, three and a half hours by public transport from the country’s capital. This town is known for its beaches and excellent surf opportunities, with its 9-metre waves, attracting many international surfers to the yearly competitions. One of the main locations for this is Punta de Lobos, just 15 minutes by car from Pichilemu, or for those wanting to stroll along the coast you can reach the beach by foot within an hour and a half. There is a wide range of street art and colourful neighbourhoods throughout the town including the Valparaiso stairs, Cerro Bellavista de Valparaíso, Plaza El Descanso and the murals of Valparaíso, all of which display Pichilemu's rich culture. Pichilemu Language School is located on one of the main streets of Pichilemu, 13 minutes from the area's main beach. Around the area there are plenty of supermarkets for you to buy your essentials in, as well as cafes, restaurants and a theatre showcasing local culture and folklore.
Learning a language can be a daunting experience, as it takes you out of your comfort zone and forces you to start again from the beginning. Pichilemu empathises with this and has a real dedication to teaching its students how to be confident with the principles of learning another language, which can be applied to a variety of languages. This is made possible by the small community of teachers who love the theory of language and exert their knowledge into each lesson for the benefit of their students. Although the school is situated in a Spanish speaking country and is strong in its teaching of the local dialect, it also offers its students the chance to learn English in this international surfing town. Pichilemu has a number of amenities to help cultivate the perfect learning environment - including a lounge, a balcony, a garden and a bilingual library. As Pichilemu has a very active culture, the school mirrors this multicultural theme and organised tours in hiking, yoga, boxing, biking, fitness classes and, of course, surfing.

Laura
30 years“The staff was so willing to help me with whatever I needed to improve my language skills, find things to do in the city, help me through any travel difficulties, etc.”
Insider tips about what future students should not miss I left the "social activities" question blank. Since I was there during winter vacation, there were no other students so I did not participate in any social activities.

Quality of teaching / language progress: The teaching staff was excellent and I had the great opportunity to learn Spanish from various points of view. The cabin I stayed in seemed reasonable and comfortable to me, though the kitchen would be better if I could have used a microwave oven.
Other comments I greatly appreciate the staff for their service and hospitality.
