Location: Located in the culturally rich city of Preston, Lancashire, northern England, Preston Academy of English is well situated to offer students a balance of study and cultural attractions. The school is housed in the city centre, within walking distance of many amenities such as public transport, eateries, social events and museums. Attractions and places of interest nearby include the Preston central bus station, the St John's Shopping Centre, Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library, and Avenham and Miller Park.
Course selection: The school offers courses suitable for students of all levels, including a specific programme for beginners. In addition to General English programmes over various schedules and intensities, Exam Preparation for the IELTS, Trinity and OET exams are also readily available throughout the year. Preston Academy of English also supplies "Ladies only" General English programmes and "Skills focus" courses to improve writing, reading, listening and speaking abilities. One-to-One, private tuition, is also available independently or in conjunction with any other programme.
Getting around: Preston bus station is a 350m walk from the school's front doors, with the Preston train station only a 900m walk from the school. The city centre, its shops and amusements are all within walking distance. Both Manchester and Liverpool are within a 1-hour train journey of Preston.

The Intensive General English course is an intensive course for students who wish to make a rapid progress or students who are unable to book longer courses due to time constraints.
This course focuses on the four main skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking integrated with grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.
Special note for 2024 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2024 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2023 many schools were fully booked during the holidays, and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2024 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

This course allows students to learn general English (15 lessons) and prepare for the IELTS exam.
General English Standard 15 hours course is a popular course among students who wish to combine morning classes with free time or with exam preparation courses such as the Cambridge IELTS preparation in the afternoon.
The course is taught by using a course book as well as tailored materials to allow language learning to take place. The course covers all four main language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking along with grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.
Students staying for four weeks or longer are provided with tutorials and progress tests to chart their progress and ensure they are happy inside as well as outside the classroom.

All student self-catering residence are centrally-located and perfectly situated in the city centre and very close to Preston Academy of English. The student rooms with en-suite bathroom provide students with easy access to the academy and the many local facilities such as a supermarket, restaurants, bars and the city centre.
The locations gives students the freedom to make their way around Preston in a quick and timely fashion, with Preston Railway Station nearby and Preston Bus Station nearby if you want to visit other towns and cities during your stay in the UK.
Residents are provided with a safe, secure environment courtesy of the 24-hour security and CCTV in place at all accommodation buildings.
