Location: Samiad Summer School is in Trent College Independent School throughout the summer holidays. The school is in a small town called Long Eaton, about 8 miles southwest of Nottingham. It backs on to West Park, and is a short walk to the main highstreet. Long Eaton has a number of restaurants, supermarkets, small shops and cafes.
Getting around: South of the town is Long Eaton train station. This is 6 minutes by car or a 30-minute walk from Samiad Summer School. Trains from here reach local stations, Nottingham and cities further afield including Birmingham and Cardiff. Long Eaton is filled with bus stations, and the bus stop directly outside Trent College arrives in Nottingham in 40 minutes.
Intensive English: The school has an intensive summer course for students, who spend the morning in group classes with the rest of the camp, and in the afternoon they continue on with their studies but in smaller groups. This package includes a complete after class social programme and full board accommodation.
Activity package: Students can substitute the afternoon extra English classes for a specific activity including horse riding, golf, performing arts, tennis or a multi-activity programme.

Special note for 2025 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2025 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2024 many schools were fully booked during the holidays, and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2025 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

I am 17 years old.“There is a supervision by tutors/teachers during classes and the school still organises activities/excursions on weekends as well, always supervised.
Should you obviously wish to have more freedom, such as an evening outing on your own with other friends, etc., you will have to submit a Parental Consent form. In this, they authorise you, for example, to go out on your own and come back obviously following a scheduled time adopted by the school campus.

Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 16. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.
