Location: Southern Cross Language Institute Christchurch is an English language school located in Christchurch, on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island. The school is housed in the residential area of Merivale, a short 20-minute walk from Christchurch Central City. Attractions and sites of interest within walking distance of the school include the Merivale shopping mall, Hagley Park North, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu, the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, the Riverside Market and more. There are several eateries, restaurants, shops and parks nearby.
Course selection: For over 30 years, Southern Cross Language Institute has been supplying year-long English language courses to female Japanese students, generally between the ages of 16 to 17 years. Programmes come with accommodation in local homestay families and generally run from April until March to coincide with the Japanese school year.
English Courses
For students who have used their English outside the classroom (i.e., have studied abroad) and are ready to refresh their speaking skills or take them to the next level.
This speaking class is for students who have not used their English much outside the classroom. Lessons are aimed at increasing your confidence when speaking.
In this class, you tell the teacher what you want to improve. Whether it is mastering English grammar, writing a good essay, or perfecting a speech or presentation.
Are you worried people are not able to understand your English? Do you find English stress and intonation confusing? This fun class aims to unlock the mysteries of English pronunciation and intonation and help get you speaking so people understand you the first time! This course will also help you with comprehension of spoken English and spelling.
