Location: TANDEM Hamburg is located in the medieval port city of Hamburg, in northern Germany. Housed in the city centre, the school is right next to some of the city's main attractions such as the Elbphilharmone Concert Hall, Hamburg Harbour, the Rathaus, Reeperbahn and the historic Speicherstadt. With over 50 museums, 45 theatres, and around 100 music venues and clubs, Hamburg is a great choice for any student wishing to further their understanding of the German language from a unique cultural backdrop.
Ethos of school: With over 35 years of experience teaching German as a second language, Tandem Hamburg offers students all they need to reach their language goals from a comfortable and professional environment. Small tip - teachers should check to ensure all class members have “got the point/understood”, not just the ones that answer quickly.
They should also make available some “high volume” working exercises for each specific point, to allow students to thoroughly practice. Currently the number of worked examples is more aimed at demonstrating the issues & then a few tests, rather than multiple examples to ensure the points are fully trained.

Generally course material has to be purchased by the student. The costs of course material will be approximately 50 € per course level.
Comments about courses
EUR 200 will be charged in the case of a negative visa response.
Students who are registered for a group course can benefit from a reduced price for add-on private lessons: EUR 49.
Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 52 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

Tandem Hamburg choose from various possibilities to run a cultural programme for all students. In general, this will happen once in the summer months, twice a week. They include sightseeing, games, excursions and meetings in a museum or a pub.
There are hundreds of things to do in the afternoons. The school organises outings and excursions to places of interest, they have parties, and take the students on visits to cultural attractions and exhibitions. And Hamburg doesn't close down at night! There are many theatres and cinemas; the club scene is big here, there's live music everywhere as well as dance halls and discos for all tastes.

I am looking for a German course in Hamburg. I lived in Austria for 3 years and I think that I shouldn't attend a beginner's course, but rather an intermediate or advanced one? Is that something you offer?
“The school offers classes at all levels. You will certainly not be assigned to the beginner's course, but based on your test results in the level test. Before the start of the course, there will be a test via an online form to determine your exact language level and on the first day of school there will be a short oral interview to determine which class you fit perfectly into!”
