Location: The Language Gallery is in the centre of Birmingham, the UK's second-largest city. The school is housed within Arden University and is a short walk from shops, restaurants, links to public transport and attractions such as the Bull Ring Shopping Centre, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and much more.
Getting around: The school is a 10-minute walk from the Birmingham Snow Hill Train Station. The West Midlands service and the Chiltern service both leave from this platform. The West Midland Tram Service has two tram stations 6 minutes from the school but in different directions.
Things to do in the city: The Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and the Library of Birmingham are a short walk from the school. The Bullring & Grand Central Shopping Centre is 17 minutes by foot from The Language Gallery to the south of the city centre. Outside the core of Birmingham, close to the Birmingham City University City South Campus is The Birmingham Botanical Gardens which is a 21-minute journey from the school via public transportation or a 36-minute walk.
Course structure: Students can take General English lessons amongst various other English programmes and electives. The school specialises in electives that can be added to the General English class so that students can focus their learning in the specific area they would like to use the language. This course is addressed to those students who are preparing for the Academic IELTS exam. Participants will work on all the skills and will do mock exams to learn about exam sections and the type of questions they will face when they sit the real exam.
The IELTS preparation course is designed to help you improve the key English language skills and exam techniques required to help you reach the score you need, be it for university entry, visa application, or international work experience. About IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English language test for studying in higher education. It is also recognised by many employers and government immigration agencies as proof of your ability to communicate in English. It consists of four parts: speaking, writing, listening and reading. Each part is marked separately on a scale of one to nine, an average score covering all four is also given at the end of the test. Test results are valid for two years and can be resat anytime.
