Course selection: In addition to General Engish programmes, taught over various schedules and intensities, the school provides Exam Preparation programmes (IELTS, TOEIC, FCE, CAE), Business English and a "Get Ready" programme for improving Academic English prior to an exam preparation course.
Social and cultural: Worldwide School of English Auckland provides a wide range of activities on a diverse social activities calendar. Evening activities previously arranged for students include yoga, touch rugby, pub nites and soccer matches. Every Friday, there are at least four evening activities for students to choose from. These activities may also include afternoon movies, special English classes dedicated to specific topics (pronunciation, grammar, etc.), class trips to local attractions, bowling, go-karting and more. Worldwide School of English offers their General English course on a 20-lesson per week basis and is suitable for a wide range of people in different situations - including those who are involved in academics, or who are trying to improve their English for their work life.
There are 8 possible levels that you might be assigned to after your initial placement test, however, at each level the foundation of the lessons remains largely the same: a strong focus on grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing. Students will also spend a significant amount of time in speaking activities, to refine this all-important skill.
It is a General English course in the morning with specialized afternoon lessons. Afternoon classes, based on the student´s language level, are available from the list of compulsory elective options below:
- Basic Learning Skills.
- English for Employment.
- Barista and bartending short courses: These 2-day courses are taught once a month. Students can choose to join these courses instead of attending the afternoon lessons and will still be marked present. Students enrolled for 12 weeks or more can choose one of them for free.
The school offers 8 General English levels. At each level they teach essential grammar, vocabulary, functions and writing and reading skills. Students also receive a lot of listening and speaking practice and teachers encourage students to practice their speaking, give opinions and ask questions.

Princeton is a budget, semi-serviced student accommodation centrally located in Auckland CBD, within the university precinct, amongst the shops and entertainment venues of Auckland. Each apartment consists of two private bedrooms, a mini kitchen and a bathroom shared between the two rooms. There are two apartments per floor.
What you should know about staying at Princeton
A security deposit of $500 per person on arrival is paid directly to Princeton Management. This deposit is refunded to the student on vacating the room. YMCA Auckland City is a budget student accommodation located in the heart of Auckland City, close to the Aotea centre and a 10-minute walk to the Sky City casino, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, public library and central Downtown. All rooms have: study desk, bar fridge (small), full set of bedding linen (changed weekly), heating and wardrobe.
What you should know about staying at YMCA
A Key Bond of $40.00 is payable directly to the Management in the event of the loss of your Key Card. Your Credit Card details are taken on your arrival (but not charged unless key card is lost) NOTE: There is NO Bond for stays UNDER 8 weeks. For long term stays (8 weeks or more) a Bond of $140.00 is payable directly to YMCA Management and will be refunded on your departure on the condition that your room is left in a clean, high standard.
