Q&A - Questions and answers about Australia

  • We do not have a filter to classify schools by size.
However, you will find the information for each school in their description: when you look at the list of schools, it is right below the school name.
    Melanie Besnard, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 07, 2024
  • ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) applies to students studying in Australia on student visas.
'Intensive' denotes full-time study comprising a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours per week of face-to-face classes of English language instruction.
    Gosia Mazur, LanguageCourse.Net - Sep 01, 2023
  • You do not need to take the IELTS or TOEFL exam to enrol in a private language school. You will take a language level test on the first day of your course so that you can be placed in the right group.
    Irina Zotova, LanguageCourse.Net - Jun 28, 2023
  • The schools accept students from all adult age groups. This means that you will be with other international students, older or younger than you. Groups are organised according to language level, not age, although in high season, if there is more than one group of the same level, the age of the students will also be taken into account. To give you an idea, the average age during the year is around 25-30 years old, while in summer it goes down to 20-25 years old. Please note that some schools have a higher or lower average age. You can find this information on the website, but you can always come to me.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - May 15, 2023
  • Students can take lunch in various ways. Some take their lunch at a café, while others buy a simple meal at a supermarket.
Eating out is generally 30% or more expensive than in Japan.
    Andy Fukutome, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 31, 2023
  • GTE in Australia is a mandatory obligation that International students are required to undertake where they would have to provide substantial proof that they are coming to Australia temporarily to gain a quality education and in no way maintain ongoing residency in Australia, illegally.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 22, 2023
  • On our website, in the English courses in Australia section, you can find information about the different cities and schools we work with in Australia. You can also get quotes for your course and accommodation, but please note that schools will only be able to offer accommodation to your partner if your partner also books a course. If this is not the case, you will have to find your own accommodation.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 15, 2023
  • The initial payment (prepayment) is collected in Euros - as our agency is located in Spain - and is collected by us on behalf of the school. The second payment, which is made to the school before the start of the course, needs to be done in the local currency of the country you will be visiting. How? It varies from school to school, but you can usually pay by bank transfer, credit card or online payment system.
    Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 13, 2023
  • Approximately one week before the start of your course, you will receive an email with more details about your reservation, and in this same email we will ask you to provide this information on to us so that the school has time to organize the pick-up. However, it is not necessary to wait until you receive this email to give us this information, as you can provide it to us at any time once your booking is confirmed.

FAQ about schools in Australia

  • In general, all our partner schools require full payment of the balance at least 30 days before the course starts. However, this can vary between the different schools and some of them may accept also payment on the first day of the course. You can check this with a particular school together with our agents, but please bear in mind that we always recommend paying the full balance to the school as soon as possible.
Veronica Romualdi, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Jan 26, 2024
  • The process starts by booking a course, then making sure you apply for a Visa on time. And we always advise to book your flights immediately after your enrollment has been confirmed by the school. We can only provide you with a letter of course enrollment when you have booked a course.

  • I would recommend the Australian International College of Language, located in the Gold Coast, Australia. It is merely 15 minutes away from the beach, and also takes students as young as the age of 6 years old. There is plenty to keep students busy in this location, with an excellent Aboriginal Art Gallery who work with the aboriginal painters to help display their pieces, Anzac Park and The Rockpools which merge from Broadwater parklands and Southport reserve for some hikes in wildlife. Australia is famous for its beaches and Southport main beach does not disappoint.

  • Visa regulations are rather delicate and they can change very quickly, so your best bet is to always contact the embassy or consulate directly in your home country.
Rubén De Haro, Area Manager - Spanish from LanguageCourse.net - Sep 08, 2022
  • As off 5th August 2022 the student visa (500) is issued to those who intend to study in Australia. This visa is issued for the full period of study on the selected course at the university. Short-term student visa to Australia category 570 assumes passing of language courses, it is not prolonged. It entitles you to stay in the country for up to 3 months. You will need an invitation from the institution to issue it.

You can extend the 500 visa, but not the 570 visa.

As regulations often change it is advisable to always check with the embassy
