This course includes 25 weeks of general English. The general English textbook and the exam fee are all included in the price. This course is only for non-EU students who need to formalise their stay in Ireland for Immigration purposes. The Academic Year commonly known as the Work and Study Programme in Ireland is designed for students from outside of the EU. You can work and study in Ireland with this 8 month language stay. Learn English at Cork English Academy during the first 6 months of your stay followed by a 2 month vacation period. These Academic Year Programmes are in line with Immigration guidelines for international students. The Academic Year Programme allows international students stay in Ireland for 8 months and must include at minimum: - 25-week course - 15-hour course per week - An official English language exam An Academic Year Programme can be renewed for a maximum of 2 times allowing international students stay in Ireland for a total of 3 x 8 month periods (24 months/2 years) subject to Immigration permission.  Academic Year Programme (8 month stay including 25 week course + 2 month holiday period) This 25 week course option at Cork English Academy is combined of: 25 weeks General English The TIE exam (usually can be taken online or sometimes face to face in Dublin) - Available to all students A1 to C2 - The TIE exam is a test of a student’s interactive English skills. As such there is no grammar section, just a written section and a speaking section. - It may suit students who have a lot of experience speaking and communicating in English but are not so grammatically aware or accurate, or low-level students. - TIE assesses your levels of written and spoken English and separate grades are awarded for each part of the test. - The writing test takes 1 hour and the speaking test takes 30 minutes - The test is in two parts – a speaking test (OTIE) and a written test (WTIE). - In the oral test you present your project, talk about either your book or news story and talk to your partner to reach a decision based on some material the examiner will give you. - In the writing test you are required to produce two pieces of writing. You write about either your book or news story for the first task and for the second you write something which you have not prepared. - To prepare, you need to do three tasks and record them in a logbook: Carry out a short project on a subject of interest to you, Read a book of your choice in English at your level and follow a News Story in the newspapers and/or on TV or radio. 6 Month Course Options 25 weeks General English leading to official TIE exam (minimum A1+ level required) 19 weeks General English + 6 Weeks IELTS Examination Preparation (minimum A2+ level required) What is the Work and Study Course? The Work and Study Programme is an 8 month programme including a 25 week course and 2 month vacation period. It is suitable for students from outside of Europe who want to stay in Ireland long term and study and work while doing so.
