#1 La Giara
School Size:
La Gaira is a small Italian language school situated in the heart of Mola di Bari and aims to create a home away from home for its students. The port town of Mola di Bari is the perfect Italian location to fully immerse yourself in the local language as there is not a large amount of tourism making it easy to practise Italian outside the classroom.
The school is a ten-minute walk from the Cathedral and the main Piazza XX Settembre and due to the size of the town, it is easy to explore its streets by foot.
The Mola di Bari central train station is under 15 minutes from the school and from here students can explore the surrounding area including Bari, the closest city. Although small, it is a lively town and throughout the summer there are many village fetes depicting local life.
The school is in a quaint building and has a library, a balcony and a rooftop terrace along with its air-conditioned classrooms.
Students can choose from the following courses; intensive courses, standard course, private courses or semi-private courses in Italian. The style of teaching in the classroom is interactive in small group sizes of maximum of 8 students. Learning communication in Italian is essential to improve and the teachers use everyday scenarios to encourage students to do so inside and outside the classroom.
A higher percentage of students are over 35 years of age and benefit from the slower pace of the town and the interaction with the locals. La Giara organises activities on various days of the week for its students to join and to ensure there is something for everyone these range from aesthetic, cultural and nature outings. Along with local trips the school offers its students the chance to join an excursion to Castel del Monte, Sassi di Matera, Polignano a Mare or Alberobello.

It's a small school which offers a more individual approach. Gianni is a good and passionate teacher who really cares about his students improvement. school is not just a business for him but also a way of life.
For me the best school in Italy (i have been to three different schools). Apart from language learning it gives you a possibility to get to know the culture and lifestyle of the locals.
