Interesting information about Monterrico
Why Monterrico? The small town of Monterrico is situated on the Pacific coast of ...
Guatemala. Known for its volcanic black sand beaches and annual influx of sea turtles, the town serves as a major weekend beach resort for citizens and tourists of Guatemala City. The area is steeped in a sultry, tropical flavor and rustic wooden-slat and thatched-roof huts line the shores. A handful of turtle conservation organisations operate in the area because the long stretch of beach serves as a breeding ground for four different species of sea turtles. There’s not too much to do except sunbathe and stroll lazily through town. There are mangroves nearby which are home to a great diversity of fauna like birds, whales and dolphins and awesome volcanoes that shimmer in the hinterland.
