Additional information
Positive aspects of school
I liked the small classes, enjoyed the classes and of course the setting. I think I would do 2 weeks at a time instead so we could digest the material. Instructors were very good.
Negative aspects
We were beginners in Italian. Since the class was total immersion, the class became much more difficult as the weeks went on. Other students felt the same way because there was minimal to no English/German instruction to clarify questions or instructions.
City/place
Beautiful, friendly and easy to get around.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Group size (max. 6 participants); separation of the lessons into grammar and conversation, whereby the conversation was obviously also geared to the interests of the group. Group activities. Very inexpensive rental bike.
Negative aspects
What I didn't like as much (in my case) was the allocation to the level of the course. But since I'm only learning for fun, it somehow fit.
City/place
Sestri is a very nice little town for families and not-so-young people.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Very good teachers
Accommodation
My "landlady" was very nice, picked me up from the station and dropped me off again. A desk in the room would be good.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The school has a relaxed, informal atmosphere and you quickly feel at home. The teachers have different teaching styles, which also offers a lot of variety. The location of the school is hard to beat.
Other comments
As of October, the boat connections will no longer be offered.
Quality of teaching / language progress
With an intensive course, there is not enough time for activities and for further Italian in the context of free time activities.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Instructors spoke clearly and enunciated well. Generally, they spoke at an understandable pace… essential for me. The pace of new material was good. The administration was great. We got all our questions answered. The cooking evening was a lot of fun, but didn’t get the recipes.
Negative aspects
We were not able to understand walking tour, the villas walking tour was even worse. We ended up not doing the activities like we would have. Therefore, we wasted our money with the 50+ activities part. We did not always understand what the event would be like. Also, sometimes in class I did not know what we were doing in an exercise.

Loved loved loved Sestri Levante!

Liked the pace. Excellent pictures. Kind Of challenging when explanations to each other were in German and I was the only non German speaker.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Mostly very good teachers, air conditioning in the rooms. Very friendly students, mostly over 50, good atmosphere, great location. You can change classes flexibly. We had a great grammar teacher in Daniele. Great activities. Everyone is very relaxed, including the school management. The beach is right on the doorstep. You quickly make contact with other people.
Negative aspects
Conversation's lessons were not satisfactory in my case. Mostly the teacher spoke and we spoke too little. I was advised against the over-50 course. I was glad. The extra price is not worth it. The included activities do not justify the price. Some of the activities were poorly organised. A little more transparency and advance booking for aperitifs etc. would be advisable. (Cinque Terre trip, for example) But otherwise cool trips.
City/place
A great, lively, well-kept city. Very touristy. But very friendly. You usually eat well everywhere. The two beaches are great.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Grammar was super taught by Daniele. Let the students talk more, in my case. Beginners' course.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Small, friendly school. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Although the lessons are held exclusively in Italian, it is no problem to follow the lessons. The teachers are perfectly prepared for this. There is paraphrasing and drawing!
Negative aspects
Air conditioning that is turned on would be great. A notepad and pencil to go with the teaching materials would complete the service.
Other comments
Good organisation, from the online booking to once on site!
City/place
Sestri is a beautiful place by the sea with a small, very well-kept old town. Many facades are beautifully painted as if they were stucco. Easy to explore on foot, too. The shops (clothes) are high-priced and nice to look at.
Quality of teaching / language progress
We were only 4 "students" and I certainly benefited from that.

Positive aspects of school
Very systematic teaching; well-prepared teachers. Great location.
Negative aspects
High fluctuation; 10 days paid (according to invoice) for 9 days tuition (Ferragosta) without prior notice. Thus very crowded material in the 2nd week.
City/place
Even nicer outside the high season (it was very crowded).
Quality of teaching / language progress

The afternoon activities are always interesting
Other comments
In summer (July, August) very hot and crowded. I would not do it again at that time.
City/place
Very pretty small town with great old town and nice excursion possibilities
Quality of teaching / language progress
Through the online language test, you were placed in the appropriate class, which also corresponds to the correct level. However, you can change the class for a course of several weeks and e.g. repeat it.

The teachers are very patient and friendly. As a beginner, you learn a lot of vocabulary, as almost only Italian is spoken in class.
Negative aspects
Despite being 50+ with only 2 start dates, there were some changes in the course participants. Instead of countless vocabulary words, it would have been helpful to form more complete sentences. (vocabulary can also be learned alone - you don't have to come to Italy.)

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
As a beginner, I was able to benefit a lot even in just one week. My motivation has increased considerably and the wonderful location, the good weather in Sestri and the cheerful atmosphere in the school have certainly contributed to this. The afternoon activities are tempting, as is the sandy bay, but everyone has to decide for themselves how much time and energy is left for homework and learning :-)
City/place
Picturesque old town with beautiful coloured houses, more touristy during the season than I imagined.

A small tip - don't bother with bottled water - water is clean, good taste and available all along the beaches areas for free from outdoor taps. There is plenty of beaches to choose from and school has sun umbrellas you can borrow.

Quality and warmth.
City/place
A dream town, quiet, by the sea.
Quality of teaching / language progress
My 4 week course was very good, with top quality grammar and conversation teachers. And not only because of the teaching, but also because of their warmth as people; a relationship of friendship is created, both with the teachers -Monica and Paolo- as well as with the administration staff and with the rest of students. Personally, my most sincere congratulations to Monica and Paolo, who during a couple of unforeseen events, both in terms of accommodation and health, were at my disposal, solving everything in a cordial and, above all, expeditious manner. And the teachers Roberta, Lucía, Sara, Marina, Romina... You're great! It is a BIG FAMILY.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
There are a maximum of 6 people in a group, it is very convenient, everyone has enough time and attention from teachers. On the other hand, other school´s activities are not divided into groups, everyone comes together. This provides an opportunity to meet other students. It turns out that the social circle is not limited to these 6 people, any student can communicate with all the rest of students who are cuttently at the school, it is very interesting.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
1. Even though someone has already written before me, I will mention it again: take part in the school´s activities. It is not only an additional opportunity to practise, it's really interesting. During the three weeks I was there, I went on several school trips, participated in a culinary workshop, listened to a lecture from two teachers and other. It was very interesting. 2. Speak Italian. Even if you know English. Even with Russian students, there are few of them at the school so the temptation is not great. This rule will be easier to follow if you decide it from the beginning. I had a neighbor from Canada, I know English, but we agreed to communicate only in Italian. We also spoke Italian with a Russian student from my group, which helps a lot. 3. Some walks from the school are long enough. And some can be a little heavy for an office monkey like me. But you can always clarify in advance how long the walk lasts and whether there is a part in the mountains. There are short walks, there are longer ones. People accustomed to physical activity coped with all the walks well.
Other comments
The school itself made an exceptionally good impression on me. Everything is very warm-hearted there. It is small and as a result everyone knows everyone. Monica currently fulfils the functions of a secretary and director at the same time. If a student has any problem, they can easily communicate directly with the director. Paolo is also there. He will also always help you if you have questions, and if a student forgets words and starts to get nervous (as it often happened to me), he will always say his eternal "calma, calma" and wait until you remember everything, showing with all his appearance that he has time to wait for you. And somehow you really feel calmer :) The location, of course, is worth mentioning separately. The school is located on the very shore in one of the bays. This building is visible on almost every travel postcard. Before or after classes, you can always go swimming, and you can hear the sea during the lessons.
City/place
The city is quite small (20,000-22,000 inhabitants) and cozy. You probably read about the two bays in other reviews :) Also, there is a railway along the coast, which makes it possible to go from Sestri Levante to other cities for a walk or on an excursion, ше very convenient.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Daily classes are divided into two parts: grammar and communication. These two parts are taught by two different teachers. If the assigned level seems too difficult or simple to the student, you can always ask, they will meet you halfway (my neighbor changed to a group with a lower grammar level, because it was hard for her). It can also happen that a student is at one level in grammar, but at another in conversation. Then they will be divided into two groups without any problems. I met almost all the teachers and and I could easily pester everyone with questions, they are all very nice and patient :)
Accommodation
The apartment was very close to the train station at the street via antica romana occidentale. There are many of the apartments used by students located at this street. It is not in the historical center of the city, typical residential areas, but it is clean and comfortable there. Not all the apartments have air conditioning. For example, I didn´t have it in mine.

The lady was very friendly! For me the cats were too wild....at night. And I do not like the smell from the cat and dog food, when it's open. Hair from the animals everywhere. I wouldn't take this accommodation again...next time I would prefer a personal bathroom, and no cats and dogs.

Everything was really perfect - all the teachers were incredibly nice, friendly and competent. It was amazing how much you could learn in one week - without any stress! Everything was straightforward, the entire atmosphere was very informal and relaxed. The excursions were also perfect - the organization, the process - everything. I particularly liked the fact that there was never any hectic or pressure and still everything went wonderfully. I will be back for sure.
