School ethos: Close to the city centre of Cardiff is Celtic English Academy, a school whose ethos is manifested in how their small class size, a maximum of 10 students, really helps students to learn with a programme more structured to their individual needs, in a safe learning environment.
Location: The location has everything you could need for a stay in this beautiful city, with shops, cafes and restaurants all around. The Blackfriars Fields, for the more active who want to get away from the bustle of city life for a few hours, is a 20-minute walk from the school and it also encircles the Cardiff Castle.
Getting around: The central train station, Caerdydd Canolog Cardiff Central, is 15 minutes by bus from the school and, for those wanting to explore further afield, is well connected to other locations in Wales. For those wanting to tick another country of the list, Bristol is just over 1 hour and 20 minutes from this station.
Course timetable: The courses are available in the mornings, afternoons and as part-time courses from midday. The general English courses, exam preparation classes for Cambridge and IELTS exams, English for work, Ladies only and Global Citizenship programme are run in the mornings. There is an afternoon General English class. English language skills, exam preparation courses for IELTS and Cambridge along with business English lessons are held as a part-time option from midday onwards.

Who is the internship placement suitable for?
To be eligible for an internship, you have to study English at Celtic English Academy for a minimum of two weeks before the internship begins and have UK working rights on your visa.
How to apply to the internship placement?
You will be asked to complete an internship application form. When you make your Internship Programme application, you can select three sectors you are interested in.
You will need to provide:
- An up to date Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A letter of motivation which explains why you would like to do work experience in your chosen sector, and
- The application form.
The coordinator will do their best to offer you a relevant placement, subject to availability. The school will also arrange an informal Skype interview with you before confirming your placement.

IELTS Exam Preparation:
IELTS is an internationally-recognised English language exam. Most students who follow one of the IELTS exam preparation courses go on to complete an undergraduate or postgraduate course at universities in the UK or other English-speaking countries. The aim of yhe IELTS preparation course is to help you improve your level of English and provide you with the strategies and techniques you need to succeed in the exam.
Our IELTS preparation course could be perfect if you:
- Want to obtain an IELTS score as evidence of your English ability or improve your current IELTS score
- Improve your English for further study and go to university in the UK or another English-speaking country
- Require an IELTS score as proof of your English level for work or visa purposes.
IELTS Exam Preparation Course Content:
- The IELTS Preparation courses combine language development with examination techniques, study skills and examination practice.
- During the course, you develop strategies and techniques for dealing with each section of the IELTS examination.
- There will be regular IELTS practice tests, followed by feedback and advice on how to improve

One-to-One lessons are not available in July or August and bookings must be received at least 4 weeks before the course start date. One-to-one lessons are 60 minutes and can only be booked in conjunction with a group course.

Although students can start at the beginning of any week (generally Monday, except in the case of public holidays) it is recommended that you begin your course at the start of one of the eight school terms. This can prove essential if you are a beginner.
