The General English program has six levels from introductory to advanced. The
program develops skills in five areas: reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking.
Intensive studies is the recommended option as you can enjoy both Reading & Writing, and Listening & Speaking classes. Each level is designed to take 10 weeks to complete.
Students can choose two classes from the primary class options, Reading & Writing, Listening & Speaking, and IELTS Preparation or Business English. Elective Plus One class is also included and gives students the opportunity to focus on additional language skills that are different from their primary classes. This is a comprehensive programme that gives students the skills they need to be prepared for college or university or a well rounded Canadian language experience.

Option 2: 11.10 - 12.55 and 14.40 - 16.25 (10 min. break)

This course focuses on listening and speaking, reading and writing, Business English, IELTS and Plus One elective class. The Plus One class occurs daily, Monday to Thursday. It allows students to choose a variety of topics that cater to their interests or academic weaknesses. Plus One topics change every two weeks, so students get the chance to study many topics during their study period.

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) was created on April 1, 2018. As an entity, the HRCE operates English public schools throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality. Serving more than 53,000 children and students in 135 schools, the HRCE is the largest school system in Atlantic Canada. The HRCE’s vision is to provide a high-quality education to every student every day. CLLC’s Public School Parents’ Program (PSPP) is designed for parents/guardians studying in the Intensive Program who have children studying in public schools in Halifax. PSPP helps parents learn the everyday English they need to thrive in Canadian society. Vacation times are offered that accommodate a public school student’s schedule.

This program can be booked as 10 week blocks. It takes 10 weeks to complete the level once student’s begin the course. It focuses on time management, note-taking, exam preparation, academic presentations, and essay writing.
This is for high level students, so students may require time in General English first before they are ready for this class. Completion of this program satisfies the English requirements of a conditional acceptance to the school´s partner colleges and universities.

This program includes a combination of General English (25 hours) and IELTS exam preparation (10 hours). It consists of 6 week levels instead of 10.
It is 35 hours of class per week, and is best suited for students who have the need to finish their English studies as quickly as possible. Usually students take this programme when they have an acceptance to a university and need to finish English before their university start date.
