Classes are dynamic, fun and appropriate for all learning styles and ages. A wide variety of authentic learning activities involved. The syllabus and framework for class sessions are tailored to the needs of students in an immersion program.
Classes are 4 hours per day from Monday to Friday in small groups of 2-6 students. If there happens to be only one student in a class/level, class hours will be adjusted to 2.5 hours per day of private instruction. Class time goes back to 4 hours per day as soon as another student joins the class/level.
The schedule is either a.m. (8.30-12.30) or p.m. (1.30-5.30) for the entire week. In general the a.m. schedule is filled up first, and only if it becomes full, also the p.m. schedule is opened up.
On the first day of class a short placement interview determines the class/level and the class level and the schedule for the week. For further weeks the schedule will be published on Friday afternoon on campus. The schedule is determined weekly by the Spanish department - the school cannot guarantee any specific/preferred schedule.

This course includes 20 lessons per week designed specifically for kids and teens. Minors must travel with an adult.
With the school's Family Spanish Immersion Programme children will take their customized Spanish programme for kids and or teenagers. These camp-style classes are multi-level groups, in which the primary focus is to conduct learning-based activities and games in Spanish. Your child will study the basics in a fun, motivating and social context with other children around their age. More importantly they will be speaking and hearing Spanish throughout the class time, developing conversational fluidity in a natural, intuitive setting.
As in the school's adult Spanish programs they use the communicative approach in their Spanish immersion programme for kids. Activities may take place around town as well.
What's included: Sports, arts & crafts, storytelling, treasure hunts, environmental hikes and more; All materials
What's not included: Costs for special field trips with transport and entry fee, in which case parents will cover any additional costs.
In the school's Spanish programme for kids, students will be placed in a group based on their age, maturity and Spanish level during the placement evaluation there on site. Middleschool and Highschool grade levels are not used as a placement factor.
Course content is based on the language levels of each student, and as such, ages within each classroom may vary, and the school expect both kids and parents to be flexible and respectful of age and any other differences (ethnicities, native languages, religion, disabilities, gender expression, etc). They believe that student diversity in all areas can only enhance the linguistic, social and cultural experiences that children are exposed to at our camp. Their teachers are skilled at managing multi-age classrooms, with units and activities suitable for each age group, similar to many Montessori classrooms. If, however, you want your child to be only with children at his own age, we recommend exploring standard elementary or high school options.

Homestays in Costa Rica provide an economical alternative to hotels, especially for single travelers. The most valuable aspect of the homestay experience is the opportunity to really get to know a Costa Rican family and experiencing first-hand the famous Costa Rican warmth and hospitality!
The standard of living and the culture are just different, especially when it comes to the more rural areas! f you choose our Heredia City Campus, standards are more similar to what you may be used to back home, with some notable exceptions (thermal shower heaters, for example!).
Remember that true cultural experiences often require sacrificing certain material comforts, but can also broaden your horizons in ways you may never have imagined.
The weekly rate can either count Saturday-Saturday or Sunday-Sunday (7 nights). For 5 or 6 nights a whole week has to be charged. Single extra nights can be arranged for up to max. 4 nights.

However, although we are not an accredited institution, there are several universities in the US and Canada that endorse our programme and have accepted it to be part of their Study abroad programme. Those universities receive and accept our documentation (Curriculum, grades, exams, transcripts, and final portfolios or essays as required by the university) as proof of the educational and evaluative progress via which they grant the credits to their students. It is very important that if a student comes to study with us for university credits, that he/she has already presented our Curriculum to the Spanish department/Study abroad department of his/her university and has been approved for academic credits from Intercultura to be granted.
