Questions and answers about Alpadia Summer Camp
Is there a C2 level for my daughter on the Summer Standard Course at Alpadia, Bath?
“We do split the students into two broad groups (A0-B1 & B1-C2) based on their placement test results, but beyond that the class groups are formed so that they contain an appropriate range of ages (not having 12 and 17 year-olds together, for instance) and as good a range of nationalities as possible. There is no real explicit language focus in the lessons (although there is, of course, plenty of incidental language work and corrective feedback). The curriculum is instead based on the Cambridge Framework for Life Competences, with students working on projects which focus on communication, collaboration, creative thinking, critical thinking, learning skills, and social responsibility. So, there is no reason why a student at C2, or even a native speaker, would not benefit significantly from the lessons. Every summer, we have several students who have a very advanced level - the benefits are really around 21st-century skills developed and demonstrated in English.”

FAQ about Alpadia Summer Camp, Bath
I would prefer to have more challenges the last week, eg. by being placed in a higher level class. I understand there is an assessment test at the beginning of the course. Will I be given a new test after three weeks? Hopefully we will see the progress I had during the stay.
“We will take it into consideration when classing the student, but it depends on a number of factors. One key factor being the students current level. Once the student has pretested, we'll have a better idea of their starting point. Progress Tests are now every 10 weeks, but we can make sure that this student is tested after 3 weeks. Do keep in mind that the first test students take after their placement test (if it's after 5 weeks - this would be their mid-course test & at this stage we wouldn't expect a student to be ready to move to a higher level class) Usually students are ready to move after a 10 week period & that's if they have very good attendance & are continuing with their learning outside the classroom. ”
