Why Barbate (Cadiz)? This small traditional fishing town, dating back to the Roman era, is located at the mouth of the river Barbate. Barbate is located between the city of Cadiz (1 hour by car) and Gibraltar (1 and a half hours by car). Close to the town itself is the Barbate National Park, where visitors can escape for a peaceful walk and explore the landscape as well as a number of tranquil beaches. The most notable historical attraction is the Tower of Tajo, which was constructed in the 16th century. The town itself has all the essentials that one would need, including restaurants, bars and supermarkets.
