• Kansas City’s traffic levels are quite reasonable, and locals only ever get caught in traffic jams during rush hours, but even so they’re minimal compared to those of larger U.S cities.

• The city takes history and culture seriously, with their First World War museum, Union Station, the Nelson Atkins museum, the Jazz museum, and the Negro Leagues Baseball museum, and much more. Residents express they haven’t gotten around to visiting everything even after living in the city for years.

• The average rental price for a 2-bedroom apartment in Kansas City is $1,140, and if you want to find something even more affordable you can look in the neighbourhoods away from the Downtown.

CONS

• Despite having a cable car that runs through almost the entire Downtown area, Kansas City’s bus transport is not very popular. Many just stick to using their car for getting around since it’s much more dependable than public transport.

• Kansas City is landlocked, meaning that it’s a long drive if you want to reach other cities or the coast. This difficulty for moving around makes Kansas City a poor option for those who have to commute regularly.

• The city, unfortunately, has crime rates above the national average, especially for violent crime. Newcomers are recommended to research the neighborhoods well before deciding where they plan to live.
