Often considered the world’s theme park capital, Orlando Florida has a wide range of attractions to offer visitors and residents alike. Orlando is a huge shopping area and people come from all over the state to go to the malls. Orlando is located in central Florida, so don’t expect surf and beaches, most beaches are a good 2 hours away by car (when the famously bad traffic isn’t too bad). What Orlando does have is culture, and lots of it.

Aside from the amazing theme parks from Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and several others, Orlando has a vibrant theatre scene, in fact, anything that falls into the performing arts category can be found here: musicals, opera, fringe theater, ballet, classical music... There are also several film studios in the area. The music scene is non-stop, especially popular among the locals are hip hop, rock, reggaeton, latino, metal and screamo. So there is no lack of things to do for students on a Friday night.

Student Opinions About Studying in Orlando

“At first I really wanted to come to Orlando for its amazing theme parks. However, I’ve come to realise that the city has so much more to offer. The climate is ideal, which is important for me because I like to get out and about as much as possible. I’ve spent more money on enjoying myself than I have on rent, which I think is definitely a positive thing.”

“Orlando is flourishing in diversity and culture, you can meet people from anywhere around the world, especially considering how many students are here. You get to know new people all the time and everyone is always so friendly. I love it here and I wouldn’t change it at all! It’s the perfect place to come for an international student.”

“Its beaches, theme parks, nature and wildlife give you a lot of options for how to spend your time, depending on the mood you’re in, or how much money you’ve got at any particular moment. It’s the place to be if you’re looking for a bit of everything.”
