The University of Delaware was established in 1833 though the original land-grant institution it was built upon dates back to 1743. UD is the largest public university in Delaware. The main campus is located in the city of Newark but UD also has satellite campuses in locations around the state. It receives state funding as a sea-grant, land-grant and space-grant institution for their research conducted related to each of those fields. The University of Delaware is the alma mater of U.S. President Joe Biden.
