What our students said about Athens
I think Athens is a great city to visit. It has a lively and exciting vibe. It is a great city to explore on foot especially in the old districts around the acropolis. There are many different, contrasting areas of the city to visit. Exarchia is lovely to explore in the day or in the evening and to sit out at a bar or cafe under trees. It's wonderful that Athens remains low rise and you can see the acropolis from all areas of the city. The sky remains open. There are not many parks and green spaces around the centre of the city but it's lovely to walk up Lycabettus Hill to enjoy the views or wander around the National Gardens. We enjoyed a lovely tram ride down to the seaside around Kalamaki beach which was beautiful. The water is still crystal clear and there are many lovely bars and restaurants along the coast.
Ireland
It is a city that, by itself, is already interesting to discover. I consider that historically, together with Italy, it has a timeless importance. I consider that, regardless of their geography, the historical sites where great thinkers of humanity have been teaching and living that we still continue reading and apprehending today, is more than enough, at least for me.
Argentina
Athens is a city of millions on a human scale: you can reach everything in the city centre on foot, there are no skyscrapers and no street jungles, the atmosphere is relaxed and the people are friendly. I'm always amazed at the clean metro stations. Totally different than Stuttgart. I can't comment on the nightlife ;-)
Germany
I already know the city a bit through my daughter who now lives there. My husband is Greek and therefore known through various trips and events, so I have a slightly different positive connection with the city.
Germany
Athens is a city with many districts of its own, plenty of nightlife, terraces and restaurants. Also for the culture lover there are enough museums and antiquities to visit.
Netherlands
Nice to have seen the city with its great history.... On the one hand interesting and casual, on the other hand a lot of police presence, dirty, noisy and congested streets.
Germany
I love Athens for it's diversity - a bit of everything, all close and mixed, all co-existing. A real city, with proud history, incredible beauty and modern challenges.
Norway
The atmosphere is good! The people are friendly, but also here, people who are really having a bad time. That 'belongs' to a big city, but it sometimes made me sad.
Netherlands
It is a very lively city, a bit chaotic and a lot of traffic, but with very interesting things. The food is great and the people are generally friendly.
Spain
Athens is in a way a juggernaut. You just have to get into the rhythm of the city, swing with it and pick out the points of interest for yourself.
Germany
Athens is a wonderful city. Big, but not too big. The landscape is beautiful, from the hills to the sea. Very rich past and history.
France
You really need to have archaeological interests. Other nice neighbourhoods and hotspots in the area: Piraeus, Sounio, Egina...
Belgium
Athens is a great city. But a lot of refuges and in the evening , if you travel alone, it is uncomfortable to go outside.
Russia
Do not stop after the first impression because the city has such a great deal to offer and not only the antiquities.
Italy
Really interesting city with many things to do. Has lots of smog and traffic tough. Will come again.
Switzerland
Very beautiful and interesting city. Super friendly people. Felt safe at all times.
Germany
Great city, quite hot now in summer, but especially Exarchía very liveable
Germany
I moved because of the view and could find better at just a little more
France
I love Athens, have been there several times, so I am suspicious to say
Brazil
It is a wonderful city that is worth returning to whenever possible.
Argentina
What school directors said about Athens
Full of history in every corner, full of life all year long, closeby to the beach for the summer, closeby to winter destination for the winter! Here is the heart of ancient and modern Greece!

It is an excellent language school! The teaching team is super professional, friendly, kind, didactic and you are always in a friendly and very pleasant atmosphere. The teaching method is very good and they use different teaching alternatives such as games, discussions on topics of Greek culture, watching films and sharing ideas. The weeks I spent there were one of the most enriching experiences of my life and I plan to come back.

The teachers were super committed and motivated and always in a super good mood; their good humour was really infectious. The classes were very small, in the first three days there were even only two of us. You could ask anything and every question was answered in detail. The classes were also mixed in terms of age. At first I was a little worried that I would only be sitting around with twenty-year-olds. In my class, the age range was from 18 to 68 and very international. The school is in a beautifully renovated traditional house with an open patio in a quiet pedestrian street in Exarchia with all the cafes and pubs around it. During breaks, there's coffee and biscuits and Greek music. I immediately felt at home. :-)
A good, very reputable language school, but, as I said: It's not a holiday with a bit of Greek learning. It's learning Greek with a little holiday :-)

Zoe was a great teacher. It was fun, and the way the material was taught more than compensated for the relatively poor textbook. I was also lucky with the other course participants.
