Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Overall, I was very enthusiastic about the quality of the school. Everything was very well organised, you were well informed about the procedures in advance. On the first day, there was a nice welcome with a friendly assessment of language skills. All of the teachers I experienced were friendly, personable and absolutely professional. My teacher Constance made the lessons very lively, with good, creative ideas. She was able to turn even dry grammar lessons into motivating units with a lot of humour. I also found the afternoon activities good and interesting. I especially liked the French dinner at Chantale's. Absolutely recommended!
Negative aspects
I had planned the language course in Lyon to get more into speaking. That came up a little short. Since the school also prepares students for the language exams required to study or work in France, the lessons were very grammar-heavy. I can also do that in Germany at the VHS. Tutorials were offered in the afternoons, but far too few for my taste, and you had to register very early to even get in. In class, there was often group work. Of course, we had to speak French, but there was no teacher to correct mistakes. I also found the tests that were given pointless and a waste of time. In my opinion, the school should differentiate more according to the motivation for taking part in the language courses and then adapt the courses accordingly.
Other comments
Overall I was very satisfied and will probably come again
City/place
I thought Lyon was great! A pleasant, very interesting city with different, lively districts, many great impressions, a large park, small squares, cultural offers. The culinary offer in particular is great, and at affordable prices. The museums are also worth seeing, there are changing, exciting exhibitions. I especially liked the walks along the Rhone and the Saône, where you can picnic, party in the houseboats, just sit around and enjoy the atmosphere. Everything is peaceful and harmless. I walked alone through the streets at 10.30 p.m. and never had the feeling of being in danger.
Accommodation
The accommodation was in a great location. Right next to the park, a 12-minute walk from the school. The room was large and clean, I used the bathroom with my hostess. Unfortunately, we had little contact as Beatrice was working, which meant that my goal of getting to speak a lot in the host family was not met. The breakfast was modest, but I guess that's normal in France.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The cultural activities and Wednesdays of support for doubts, I don't remember the name, it was like group counseling where we also talked.
Negative aspects
Improve classrooms; in some the air conditioning did not work. Create a conversation club to help us learn.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
In general, the school seems good to me, just reinforce the points already mentioned.
Other comments
It's good.
City/place
i liked it!
Quality of teaching / language progress
It depended on the teacher: with some we didn't have a conversation, just the class.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Reasonable price, quality of teaching, comfortable classrooms, kindness of teachers and other staff. Through Google Classroom you can access the summary of everything given in class every day.
Negative aspects
You have to take the metro or walk for a long time to go to the city center.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
In general, most of the students are very young, 20-25 years old, but in the culture course there were quite a few over 50.
Other comments
I've only been there for a week, but due to the quality of the teaching, I think it's worth doing long-term courses.
City/place
There are many things to see or do but being a big city you have to walk a lot or use public transport. Restoration is a bit more expensive than in other smaller towns in France.
Quality of teaching / language progress
It is a very good course because it includes 2 cultural activities after classes. Activities such as visits to various parts of the city, wine tasting, cooking class, cruise along the Saona river, etc.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
I really enjoyed learning the language, good and friendly teachers and a very nice Host family (Janine) and the fact, that you made sure, that you will be in a class with students which are as good (or bad) as you are.
Negative aspects
It was really good that you offered afternoon activities, although there weren't many things I was interested in. I really enjoyed the city tour by Janine, but that was basically it. But I am also quite young compared to the other students, so I would guess that that was a unique problem. All in all, I learned a lot and I enjoyed spending my free time in the park.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
The Park
City/place
I primarily enjoyed the park, it is really beautiful and definitely something you have to see, the old parts of the city and the big paintings on many buildings are also really beautiful.
Accommodation
She was really nice and always made sure that we (me and the other 2 who stayed with her) enjoyed our time with her, that we liked her food, that we have enough to eat, that we know exactly how to reach the school and also she did a great weekend programme for us where she showed us the city and stuff. If I come back I would really enjoy being her guest again.

Positive aspects of school
Certificates could be printed on better quality paper. We spend a lot of money on the courses, would be nice if the school provided us with quality certificates.

The wine and cheese tasting with Didier was excellent.

Please fix the coffee machine! Kept getting black sweetened coffee when I asked for unsweetened coffee with milk. Trivial, but still frustrating during a short break between classes. There seems to be a large turnover of teachers so wonder about their working conditions and salaries as compared with other schools.

It wasn't good, when I had to repeat the same course two times, so I think it´s better to make the time from the beginning of the course suitable for the student.

You have to be aware that the choice of subjects for teaching is very outdated from an educational point of view. For example, the teachers choose a topic to cover over a week. If this topic is completely unknown or uninteresting for a student, the learning effect is extremely low, as understanding the materials is only possible if you have a basic knowledge of the topic. The teaching materials with which one should actually learn the language were unfortunately chosen extremely poorly and the learning effect is practically zero in individual cases due to weekly one-sided topics.

There is an amazing ice cream/gelato place in Vieux Lyon. It was the best ice cream I have ever had. Try the ginger.
Other comments
I found that the instructor talked too fast in my class and it was beyond my ability to comprehend what she was saying. I attended a tutorial for the class that was one level below and found it far too easy and slow. I was very disappointed to find such a large gap between the two levels. The instructor eventually slowed down a little bit during the second week but the classes still lacked a structure and did not really connect with each other. We never received a detailed syllubus and the materials handed out to us each day were some sheets photocopied from some unknown workbook. There were no exercises with solutions given for practice and no textbook for reference. I was disappointed with the organization of the school and the quality of the instruction. The administration was willing to move me to the easier section, but I thought that would have been worse in the end.

I began at Lyon Bleu in the 8th week of the teaching cycle, so I missed the first 7 weeks of instruction at that level. I asked for the teaching materials (handouts) from the previous 7 weeks but was not able to get them. It would have been very helpful for me.

I've taken a few short-term intensive courses in different countries and somehow, to my regret, this was the weakest one. The curriculum was far from applied or intensive and very unflexible, considering we were a group eager to talk and interact. My host family was never present to practice with so both of us students lodged there were fishing for other ways to practice. Very tiny rooms which, thanks to the heat wave, got stuffy. There was no fresh air on one side or direct cold blast from AC. Would not be able to recommend this course.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Be aware, when you pay for a full week and the school is closed for a national holiday, you will lose a day's class with no refund or credit. While in another school I've been to if you lose a day due to holiday they give extra hours during the week. In Lyon in April/May I paid for 7 wks but due to national holidays I received 6 wks and 1 day.

I was there in April/May and the building and classrooms where excessively hot which for me was annoying when studying.

Metro and tram network is super simple, make use of it. Go and have a look at the various murals. The Walacebar is very popular. Football and rugby is widely broadcasted, on Sunday the pub quiz (bilingual, French & English) is recommended. Have a good pub meal as well.
Other comments
It takes a while before you're acclimatized, whilst being in a class that have been together for a week or longer. Improving the start for new students is recommended. 25 hours is a lot, but is certainly doable!
