Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The staff were friendly, helpful and competent. The teachers tried to tailor the lessons to our requirements and operate within the limits of our knowledge while trying to extend it.
Negative aspects
I didn't find anything that bothered us.
Other comments
I appreciated the managements flexibility - making adjustments in the light of sound issues due to Las Fallas.
City/place
A beautiful city with much to offer. Our trip coincided with Las Fallas which while being a fascinating cultural phenomenon (especially for the local population) it did impact on the ease with which one could get about. And naturally how well one might sleep.
Quality of teaching / language progress
We were generally very satisfied with our lessons. Delighted that we could have semi-private lessons allowing us to proceed at speed that we were capable of.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Enjoyed the interactive white board, quality of the teaching and the different teaching methods used over the 5 hours of lessons. I dropped a level in my assessment as I have not done any grammar etc for several years.
Negative aspects
Initially not clear which door was the entrance as doors were closed, perhaps a plaque outside indicating the buzzer which could be printed more clearly. As only there for a short time did not get opportunity to be offered any activities.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Find out the correct door and buzzer to get in!
City/place
Fantastic would recommend. Not as busy or touristy as Barcelona, and appears more authentically Spanish.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Enjoyed them and learnt a lot. Very friendly and supportive teacher.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Ability to have different instructors, who may, or may not, teach in similar fashions, as the methods complemented each other.
Negative aspects
I learned Spanish earlier in life, and really only wanted to speak more fluently, augment my vocabulary and through this, use my grammar knowledge more effectively. I wanted more oral conversation, corrections on pronunciation and incorrect grammar usage. I have no interest in going through a testing process at my age!
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
None.
City/place
I had already decided years ago that this is where I am going to retire, nothing I saw or did has changed my mind.
Quality of teaching / language progress
I loved the individual classes-much more helpful than the morning classes.

Positive aspects of school
Nice, good teachers with a sense of humor. Based on the language test in advance, I was placed in a class that was just right for me in terms of level and that included people of varied ages.
Other comments
Sympathetic school. In my month there was only one social activity (paella meal). I didn't mind. Perhaps young people think that is not enough.
City/place
Valencia is a wonderful, beautiful and relaxing city with nice people and delicious food.
Quality of teaching / language progress
No complaints, everything well arranged.

Very friendly teachers and staff, great location, good organisation, very flexible.
Negative aspects
Classroom with window to a shaft - 4 hours of zero daylight, bad air and stench, group lessons depend strongly on the level of the participants, in my case unfortunately very boring - but could swap into private sessions.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The lessons and the teachers were very good, everyone worked together and the lessons were so varied. I learnt a lot and also enjoyed the language. We only spoke Spanish at school. Once we had paella, which was very nice.
Negative aspects
Classrooms are a bit cramped or the group was large. But usually not everyone was there. The students all left as quickly as possible at 1 p.m. I would have liked to have lingered around, asked this and that, stood around after the course. A large number of the students are currently from Russia, so there wasn't much of a mix from other countries.
City/place
I haven't rated what I haven't used. I made a very good choice with Valencia. I found everything I need to be happy.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Four weeks of language course seemed like a lot to me at home, but it's not, because there's so much to learn.
Accommodation

Negative aspects
Afternoon events are few. I expected any city walking organised where I could have chance to know other students.
Quality of teaching / language progress
A week is too short, but couldn’t help, it’s my problem.
Accommodation
The owner was old but intelligent and kind. She cooks well, the house is always clean. As it was off-season and I was only student at the house, I was totally lucky.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The school is filled with competent, nice and affable teachers. They are all friendly and helpful.
Negative aspects
They advertise things that are not fulfilled by the school. For example, there is talk of activities outside the school that have not taken place even once. This is very disappointing as it makes it difficult to get to know new people.
City/place
Valencia is a great city. Especially for anyone who is neither a fan of big cities nor of small towns. The city offers a lot: life and tranquillity.
Accommodation
The flat was great. It was modern and spacious. The cleaning was mediocre.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
They choose a good textbook. Excellent teachers for beginners were attended for us. But when one of the teachers was absent for sick, a substitute teacher came, and he wasn't great.
Negative aspects
The classrooms are very small for up to 10 people. Also because of that the air-conditioning was too cold for the people who is sitting in front of it.

There is an excursion on Monday afternoon and a small something to eat for Friday teatime.

Would definitely use the Valenbisi (city bike) for a longer stay. € 13.30 for a weekly ticket and stations and bike paths are really everywhere. So I never needed the subway.

The private lessons were great!
Other comments
The private lessons were excellent. What you should definitely reconsider is the placement test. The exam was structured in such a way that something small in level A1 was asked almost nothing in area A2 and then mainly everything in area C1 and higher. This is how I was classified in A1, even though I completed A2 in Switzerland. In the end I was able to work in area A2, which was very good.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
At the beginning of the month there is always a paella dinner for the teachers and students! Dance once in the Marina Club until the sun rises over the sea!
City/place
I felt safe in Valencia at any time of the day or night, whether in the park, on the beach or in the city. In the 4 weeks I only met 1 unfriendly person - they must have moved! Otherwise I only got to know friendly and helpful people. For those who like it warm, like me, August is perfect. You can safely leave long trousers and sweaters at home. Even at night it is still pleasantly warm. Cycle paths run through the whole city, so that you can explore and traverse them by city bike (Valenbisi). The Turia, the green river bed, also invites you to cycle and / or linger. The city of arts and sciences is always worth a detour, especially for architecture lovers. With the changing light conditions there are always new perspectives to discover. I was also enthusiastic about the countless graffiti works of art that run through the whole city, but especially in the El Carmen district. Here you can drift for hours, from one street to the next and always discover something new. And the nightlife ... for me always something very special to dance on the beach or under the starry sky, therefore an absolute recommendation Umbracle (Fridays) and Marina Club (Wednesdays).
Quality of teaching / language progress
I attended a 4-week A2 language course in August. For the first 2 weeks I had one-to-one tuition in order to get to the language level of the group. For the last 2 weeks I was able to go to the group (4 students). The lessons were never boring and varied with games, listening comprehension, films, free speaking etc. Yes, more activities could be offered by the school. But in the end I didn't miss them. Those who are open-minded can quickly find sports activities, language exchanges and parties, e.g. via Meetup. First and foremost, it was important to me to find a good school with motivated teachers and that worked perfectly with Route66. Learn in a relaxed, family atmosphere!
Accommodation
Very warm host mother with a lot of patience and tireless motivation to want to speak Spanish with us. She spoiled us with delicious Spanish cuisine and cooked something different every day for 4 weeks. The rooms are very simple. But since I was always out and about, i.e. at school, on the beach, exploring the city or at parties, that didn't bother me. The rooms are mainly intended for sleeping ;-) I would always go to a host family to get to know not only the Spanish language but also the culture and the locals better! Highlight in the family: eating together with your 8 Spanish-speaking friends! For me they spoke a little more slowly ;-)

We studied almost from scratch. 4 weeks. We reached level A 1.1. The groups are really small. We had 3 people. There were 2 teachers. The first 2 hours Claudia, then 2 hours Elena. The teachers are very sociable and friendly. We studied in the morning. Study materials: two books for A1 course with audio support (one is mainly theory, the other is for exercises). Free coffee, biscuits, water in the library. The school has free Wi-Fi. Almost all classrooms are air conditioned. The whole team at the school is very friendly. Game methods of learning are actively used, which accelerates progress. For the first time we tried the intensive (trained with the whole family) and liked everything very much.

For the second week there were 6 students in the class. Met with 4 different teachers. I am grateful for the response to my wishes.

I strongly recommend staying with a Spanish host family. That way, you will get the most out of your language experience. Also, Valenbisi has a great city bike scheme. It's good value and the best way to explore the city.
Other comments
I have two criticisms. One is the lack of organized social activities. As a single person, I would have appreciated more opportunities to mingle and get to know other students in other groups. The coffee breaks are short and people tend to revert to their own language groups. My other criticism is that the classes followed similar pattern everyday; a general chat and then exercises from the book. We didn't play any games nor do any role plays. A more varied teaching programme would be good. Overall though, I enjoyed my two weeks and my Spanish progressed a lot.

The lessons and the teachers, very fun and learned a lot. Because I was only there for a week I did not learn as much as I would like to, but I think this was mainly due to the short duration of my stay. For example, I think with 1 week more (and with more talent for languages) that this would have gone much better.

+ good lessons/teachers and small groups (2 different teachers every day: 1 for the first 2 lessons, the second for lessons number 3 and 4) + homestay + school is right in city centre + placement test had to be taken before arrival
Other comments
- wasn't told the correct results of the placement test - Is it really necessary to buy 2 books for 45€ if you stay less than 4 weeks? not like promised online: - there was only 1 activity per week (and no city tour or welcome lunch as promised online) - I was told the homestay's address very late and there was another (nice) person from my home country (but it said online this wouldn't happen, so less opportunity to talk Spanish)

The head of school was very unorganized. He made lots of mistakes with the booking and just seemed to mend these faults. When we asked for the inclusions in our packages, he always got angry and represented us as the persons who were inflexible despite the fact that we booked and paid for the different offers.

With only 2 in the class the teaching was fairly intensive, though rewarding. The two teachers were excellent in their different ways. One concentrated on grammar and vocab while the other encouraged us to talk more, discussing Spanish culture and history.
Other comments
I would have been prepared to pay more for accommodation. The meals in particular were distinctly average thought it was helpful to be in a non-English-speaking household.

Positive aspects of school
The school is very centrally located, which is perfect. With a maximum capacity of a mere 6 students per classroom, a lot of time and care is given to the individual. The teachers are all very friendly, relaxed and funny. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who'd like to learn Spanish.
Other comments
Students and staff at the school are all friendly and welcoming. Free coffee & tea makes morning classes a little easier to get through :) All in all a wonderful school.
