Additional information
Positive aspects of school
The quality of the lessons stands and falls with the students, I have always been lucky to have students in the class who were similarly quick in their understanding. The teachers are very committed and do a good job.
Negative aspects
The homework :-) :-) I would have liked the cancelled public holiday to be made up in the form of an extended school days, e.g. one hour longer each day.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Perhaps one or two individual lessons.
City/place
The city does a lot to preserve the sights. Unfortunately, this also means that some monuments are not accessible. You also have to like the fact that there are always lots of tourists there.
Quality of teaching / language progress
The fact that only Italian is spoken helps a lot. You just have to make an effort and contribute yourself.
Accommodation
There are VERY different rooms there. I've always been really lucky so far and got a nice room. The nuns there are a bit secretive, but very helpful. The fact that the gate closes at 11.00 pm is certainly not everyone's cup of tea.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
Great location, old house, friendly and lively teaching by the teachers, variety of teaching methods, class size
Negative aspects
My rating was too low and I had difficulty changing levels. I was underchallenged, but didn't put up much of a fight. The students' pronunciation skills were very poor, as were their fluency skills, which were never corrected or addressed. It was very exhausting for me to listen. I almost only enjoyed listening to the teacher. I booked the course because I wanted to learn to speak more. I had a year of Duolingo self-study before that. But I was able to speak much better.
City/place
Venice is a city that has a special aura due to its age. There are an incredible number of impressions to process, but every view is somehow beautiful, so you don't mind.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
I would especially like to mention the excellent teacher Roberta; she is very competent and attentive, as well as cheerful and open-minded.
Negative aspects
Some of the rooms are a little small
City/place
I have known Venice for many years and will go again and again.
Accommodation
The accommodation is very simple and in need of renovation, but clean. It is not suitable for a longer stay as there is no desk or similar in the room. The distance is at least 35 minutes, even if you walk fast, and is certainly too far for most course participants.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
There is a unique family atmosphere in this school. One immediately feels well taken care of. Language barriers are skilfully overcome. Great teachers!
Negative aspects
None
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
To network with other students. Maybe a private lesson with the teacher every now and then to reinforce what has been learned.
Other comments
Participants receive a student card with which they can eat well and cheaply in the affiliated refectory, as well as go to various facilities at a lower price.
City/place
It should be clear to everyone that a big city like Venice is not comparable in price to a small Bavarian town. However, if you don't necessarily stay in the tourist corners, you can still eat cheaply and, above all, well. The Aperol Spritz costs from €3.50 upwards....... Venice is worth a visit!
Quality of teaching / language progress
Beginner Intensive Course
Accommodation
It is a mixture of monastery, old age/residential home with clearly defined times and rules, and accommodation for guests. A wonderful atmosphere of peace and contemplation. However, it is probably not suitable for everyone. When you come out of the hustle and bustle of Venice into the adjoining garden, it invites you to let your mind wander a little more .... All in all, I can recommend it without reservation.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
I enjoyed the lessons very much. In the first week, I was assigned to a course that was too demanding for me because I had joined in the 4th week of the course. In the second week it fitted very well because the course started all over again. At the beginning of the second week I felt rather underchallenged.
City/place
Venice is a really beautiful city full of contrasts. If I can, I will come again.
Quality of teaching / language progress
It is very important to pay attention to the exact week in which you start the course. Otherwise you can be overwhemeld or underchallenged.
Accommodation
It is a very comfortable dormitory. However, it would be good if the description said that cooking and eating utensils were available. I only found this out through intensive internet research shortly before arrival.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
I liked the teaching concept with assignment sheets corresponding to the topics discussed (including homework). The Vota "10" is given in any case to the teacher, on whom of course much depends on the overall impression.
Negative aspects
There wasn't really anything I didn't like. Sure, the classrooms are a bit "old-fashioned", but that doesn't diminish the (success of) the teaching.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
For jazz lovers: Venice Jazzclub is just around the corner from the school
Other comments
none
City/place
Anytime again, although I find the weekly ticket for the vaporetti a bit expensive (65 euros), even if the trip to Murano/Butanol is included.
Quality of teaching / language progress
The online assessment was totally fine. I had no problems joining the course, which had already started a little earlier. Otherwise, as already mentioned, the teacher and the teaching philosophy (a mix of grammar and topics borrowed from everyday life) were optimal from my point of view.
Accommodation
Was self-catering, so no evaluation of meals. Was however allowed to use the kitchen including spices, spaghetti :-) and pots/pans. Very friendly welcome and stay molto piacevole. Distance to school varies from just over 20 mins to max 30 mins (depending on walking speed).

Positive aspects of school
Location, teaching method, social activities, being able to speak to someone about all sorts of problems that occur in a different country from home
Negative aspects
I would appreciate more socialising - e.g. fixed pub nights / dinner nights with all the students, not necessarily only those from my course. Socialising is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect for me personally.

Coffee at Mammafé. Ombra - (wine) at da Lele. Corner bar right on the canal is great (location and value for money). Excursions in the area are worthwhile: Padua, Treviso, Eugene Hills - even Mestre has beautiful sides (Forte Marghera is a destination for locals!).
City/place
You have to deal with tourists who are only briefly in the city and essentially see them as a backdrop.
Quality of teaching / language progress
I would do it again.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
The cultural offerings in Venice are overwhelming. I can recommend a concert evening in San Vidal or a choir concert in Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. The churches are full of art treasures. This year the various Tintoretto exhibitions were a must. I can only recommend a visit to the opera in La Venice to everyone. All course participants had a lot of discovery fun on long walks through the various sestiere. I was also enthusiastic about my island tour to Murano, Burano and especially Torcello. A very special experience was San Michele the cemetery island. I could recommend a lot more - but the wonderful city on the lagoon has so much beauty and lovely picturesque corners in store that everyone is cast under its spell in their own way!

Bring your own grammar book and definitely - a dictionary (which was very useful).
Other comments
I would have loved a bit more structured approach to the grammar part. After first week I was confused and went to buy a grammar book to clear some things up. And the beginning seemed a bit slow - first three days we repeated pretty much the same stuff. And I don't mind a bit more homework. About social activities - I didn't participate cause our coursemates went to the first one and afterwards told that it was all in Italian so it held me back from future events cause there is no point for me if I don't understand anything. Maybe next year! :)

Departmental teaching, I've learned a lot. Very nice teachers, school.
Other comments
No air-conditioning. Not possible to study in 35 degree heat. The host family were two girls, who always invited their boyfriends at night. Very small room right under the roof, nearly 40 degrees at night too, very noisy street.

the evaluation (in which class one is placed)on the first day was strange. One got the impression that the classification depended mainly on in which level there were any free places left.
