The Homestay accommodation service is an excellent way to experience English hospitality and to be fully immersed in British culture. The school's priority is to make sure that all students feel happy and comfortable during their time in York, and this starts with providing a welcoming Homestay family.
They have a large selection of Homestay providers, most of whom have worked with the school for a long time. The Accommodation & Welfare Officer visits each of the Homestay providers regularly to make sure the homes are suitable for students.
All the Homestays are situated either within walking distance of the school, or on a good bus route.
Students are provided with breakfast and evening meals during the week, with a light lunch included at the weekend. Hosts may supply a packed lunch, on request, for students who are going on an excursion at the weekend. During the week, students are expected to buy their own lunch from one of the many sandwich shops, cafés and takeaways that are close to the school.

The school's homestay accommodation service is an excellent way to experience English hospitality and to be fully immersed in British culture. Their priority is to make sure that all their students feel happy and comfortable during their time with them, and this starts with providing a welcoming Homestay family.
They have a large selection of Homestay providers, most of whom have worked withthem for a long time. They ensure that all Homestay providers are sensitive to the different needs and cultural backgrounds of students, and always try to place students in the most suitable Homestay available.
Their Accommodation & Welfare Officer visits each of the Homestay providers regularly to make sure the homes are suitable for students. They take into account age, nationality and personal preferences when placing students with hosts, and any requests made by students at the point of booking will be carefully considered.
If you have any medical conditions or special dietary needs,the school must be notified at the time of booking. You must complete and return a medical information request form. A lot of their host families have dogs as pets. If you have an allergy to dogs, the school will ensure that your host does not have a dog. It is not always possible to provide pet free homes as a preference.
All Homestays are situated either within walking distance of the school, or on a good bus route. With Standard Homestay accommodation, students have a private bedroom and an appropriate place to study, either in the bedroom itself or elsewhere in the home. Towels and bedding are provided, as is a weekly laundry service.
The Standard Homestay accommodation includes the use of a shared bathroom. The Executive Homestay accommodation includes a private bathroom.
Unless otherwise requested, The school ensures that students with the same first language DO NOT stay with the same host family.
