The 20-hour-per-week Intensive Spanish course follows the tried and tested model of working on the main pillars of language learning: grammar & vocabulary, speaking, listening, and writing.

This school believes that particular importance should be given to communication skills when studying Spanish, as a student’s confidence in their abilities is a large factor in how much they will use and therefore expand their skills.

There are groups at all official ability levels (from A1 to C2), and you will be assigned to a group that most closely corresponds with where your Spanish language skills currently are (this can be changed later if necessary).

“There were a lot of native speakers, or students who had been speaking the language perfectly for a very long time.
And for me it was a bit difficult to choose the level of proficiency, because even in the beginners' groups they were almost perfect speakers, but grammar was taught much later.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just that for me the speaking and vocabulary part is a bit lacking, but I know the grammar almost perfectly.”
Quality of teaching / language progress: I liked it, it was very worth it. It was a bit tiring. What I didn't like was that I think the classes started very late (10 am), so most of our afternoon was "wasted" because we finished very late and had to go home, so we had very few activities for the rest of the day.

"My house is located about a 7-minute walk from the train station. The rooms are nicely furnished, in a slightly unique European antique style, and the host mother offered me a home-cooked Spanish meal. However, as dinner time in Europe is quite late, you have to adjust your time.

"My friend and I were accepted by a very kind host family. They had prepared cute room for us. There were all commodities in the flat. Flat is near the city center. we could reach a lot of destinations by foot. The family was very helpful and we had an opportunity to practice Spanish with them.

If I want to take a day off, can the school make up the missing courses?
“Normally, if the student want to take a day off, it is not possible to make up the day. We can try to make up the class only if they are sick. Likewise for private classes, although in case of illness, if they do not inform us of the cancellation in advance to the email they will not be able to recover because we will not have time to notify the teacher.”

What is the difference between a residence and a shared flat at the Kingsbrook Spanish School in Barcelona?
“The residence is a building where only students are accommodated. Here the students have all the comforts and services at their disposal including cleaning and linen service, h24 assistance in case something happens or something in the room doesn't work, and common areas to eat or study.
The shared flat is a flat in which each student has his/her own room. In our shared flats there is always a responsible person who looks after the flat. Executive rooms have private bathrooms.

“The analogue of the IELTS or TOEFL exams for English is the D.E.L.E. for Spanish. D.E.L.E. stands for "Diploma Español como Lengua Extranjera" (literally, it means "Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language") and is an official accreditation (accepted worldwide) of the level of proficiency and knowledge of the Spanish language. The D.E.L.E. exams are conducted by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish government. Our school offers D.E.L.E. preparation courses three times a year.”
