What we like about the school

Location: With over 30 years of experience in teaching, Limerick Language Centre can be found in Limerick, Ireland. The school is located in 2 beautiful Georgian buildings, just across the road from the picturesque 18th century "Peoples Park&quo"; the main building is just a 5-minute walk from Limerick's main shopping area. Information about city: Limerick is an ancient city with Viking origins, situated on the banks of the mighty River Shannon. As Ireland's first City of Culture, it offers a rich cultural life, as can be seen in its world-renowned museums, the Hunt Museum and the Limerick City Gallery of Art.
Course structure: The school promises to provide you with the course needed to guide you towards obtaining your learning goals. They offer a variety of courses from General English and Exam Preparation to a full-year Academic programme. There are courses suitable for all levels. Limerick Language Centre is committed to the continuous development of its teachers with the latest EFL teaching methodology and criteria. All of its teachers are University graduates and certified EFL (English as a Foreign Language) Teachers, ensuring top quality English tuition whilst creating lasting and favourable memories.

Quality of teaching / language progress: The course format is designed so that new students can join the courses every Monday. The open course format allows for a dynamic experience, as new groups of students can always emerge in the course. There is no linear course format. Instead, all the skills needed for the CAE or AILTS are taught to the students. Individual wishes of the students are also catered for, if they lend themselves to the lessons.

Other comments: The school is quite small in terms of room but it includes 3 buildings. In case of problem of language level or housing the administration remains at your disposal. The human encounters are just great (especially for young 18-20) I went there in summer so I do not know the atmosphere during other periods. Other comments: In my opinion, they should improve some academic aspects. They could offer through a website, for example, exercises and activities that allow students to practice and progress according to their level. Much grammar is taught, which is fine, but it is not enough. It is important to improve listening comprehension and writing skills. A web page with guided exercises, with an access code, if the centre wants it, would help to improve these aspects.

I am going to work in Limerick this summer and I am interested in booking a course for my 17 year old daughter, but the website states that she must be 18 years old to be accepted. Can I still book the course for her?
“The schools are very strict with the minimum age of acceptance, and if your daughter is not 18 by the time the course starts, they will not be able to accept her. They can't risk accepting her and while she is taking the course, if there is a British Council inspection and they find out, it could even mean the closing of the school.”

“In Limerick we have a number of schools that organise the course you require. Please note that a minimum level of English is very often required for admission to exam preparation courses. In addition, only some schools offer courses every Monday of the month, and not all schools keep the course running if the minimum number of students enrolled is not reached - we can however check this information for you.”

The General English course from the Limerick Language Centre has been developed in a way that allows students to learn at their own pace, in a friendly and supportive environment. The main focus of these 20 weekly lessons is the improvement of skills relating to Speaking and Writing in English. One lesson lasts for 45 minutes, and take place from 9:00 to 12:30 every week day.
Conversation practice in English is done through interactive activities such as role-plays and work in pairs or small groups. You can expect to refine your understanding of grammar while learning how to apply it to real-life situations. Pronunciation and intonation skills are also developed throughout the course.
